Neu Home Laundry Station 2 2
Great design, poorly manufactured Although the Neu Home Laundry Station (Model #63101) has a very sturdy design and modern lines, the manufacturing job was executed *extremely* poorly. Just plain shoddy. The materials (metal frame and baskets, wheels, canvass, hardware, chrome) are of higher-than-expected quality but there are serous problems with the manufacturing quality control. Several square tubes were dinged, and it appeared they were wrapped that way at the factory because there is no indication on the inside packing materials that the damage happened during shipping. Several welds were out of square, resulting in pieces that did not align, did not fit together, or positioned the threadeds improperly. Some pieces that should have been welded at 90 degrees were welded into final position as much as 7 degrees off, making it impossible to assemble the unit without major adjustments. Luckily I have a lot of tools and am very handy with them, so I was able to overcome most of the problems. I had to break two welds in order to bend the the metal so the threaded inserts would match up with screw holes. The MDF top (with hinged door over the canvass bag) was not well packaged (the two pieces are different sizes and there was no blocking to take up the slack for the smaller piece). The mass of the MDF pulled the hinge screws out of the smaller pieces during shipping, and I had to fix the hinges. Although I persevered and was able to fix & work around many of the manufacturing problems, the average home maker would not have been able to assemble this unit out of the box. Well, not unless she/he has a cold chisel and a heavy duty vise to bend everything so it may be assembled. 11/22/2009
Home Laundry Station The Home Laundry Station is easy to asemble, made sturdy, and very convenient for use inbetween your washer and dryer. The hindged cover is a good idea as when folding laundry it can be used as a folding table. The drawer is good to keep the smaller items like the fabric shaver, mesh laundry bag, etc in. The shelves are tall enough to accommodate the larger sized soap and fabric softener bottles and there is still room for the stain remover and dryer sheets! Overall this is a very convenient item not only for the laundry area, but any area that you may need some extra storage space. With it being on casters, it is portable and can be easily moved to where ever it is needed. Very handy item, but found it to be a bit expensive! 12/01/2008
