We bought this product when we dropped our expensive cable. We tried one TV first with this device and LOVED it. When I went back to buy a second one, I noticed the Roku1 on sale for the same price so bought in instead. What a mistake! For the same price the Roku had half the features (No qwerty keyboard on the remote, no hulu button on the remote..) Plus they wanted me to add a credit card to keep on file "in case" we chose to buy a movie or something. I am not comfortable with that, as my kids and guests use this product without my supervision. (although you can put a pin number on it for protection) Basically, for the price, this is the best streamer I have seen. We have no complaints. It took a minute to set up, and had to go through two updates first But since then it has fired right up and worked wonderfully. The remote did come with dead batteries, and they are the weird circle ones so a little harder to replace.

This TV Streamer works perfect with a large amount of on screen menus I matched this up with the Trendnet TPL-306E2K Power Line Ethernet kit. This puts your DSL from your router onto your house wiring. This puts DSL in every Bedroom. You can hook your portable Hard drive with Movies on it to the NTV300SL or get Netflix and YouTube over the DSL hook up. I love the remote control w/keyboard built it.

    • I can't get broadcast TV. You may be able to get some content from Vudu apps and perhaps elsewhere. Most, if not all, devices and most Blu-Ray players these days do have Vudu apps and pass some content. It never is at the same time as programs on broadcast or cable TV, though--it may be available at least several hours later. NBC's "Today" and "Nightly News" have special Vudu Apps and seem to come on five hours later or so, it seems. AC360 also has a Vudu app--the daily programs are called "podcasts." (Podcast: That's a more accurate description.) Broadband computer provides sites, too--again, it's fragmented and delayed. I think that, eventually, streaming will become more and more like broadcast and cable: Many people believe that TV should be "free," given ads, as it was in the past: They're more willing to pay for broadband. Do some searches of the networks--it should be easier than it is now, though. If the broadband providers and networks are at "war," customers then can't get any of that network's content then though that broadband provider (Comcast vs. CBS recently).

    • You don't need cable but this does not provide over the air digital stations like abc, nbc, etc-it does provide netflix, hulu, and some other streaming video options like youtube and pre-recorded news updates.
