Rated 1 out of 5★ by Does not work with all DSL providers as advertised Walmart and/or e-Force did an excellent job processing the item and allowing for refund. Received it ahead of schedule. However, the product does not work with all providers, even those they list. In my case, CenturyLink. It may not be the fault of the device, as I believe CenturyLink, and other providers, have included a special signal which makes it work specifically with their devices (PPPoE). I tried another ActionTec modem and it too failed (i am replacing an existing Centurylink rental device so its not the line). 2 hours with Netgear and Centurylink tech suppport could not resolve..Also note this is just the modem. Most of us need a Wireless Router too, especially if using on a laptop around the house. 07/03/2014

Rated 4 out of 5★ by Good product, but a hurtle to complete as usual. Businesses go thru so much effort to create products, but rarely take the time to clearly make sense in their descriptions. They put the burden on the rest of us, which we don't have time for. Here's my situation... I gave up cable because they are greedy liars, literally. Other reviews of USA cable companies is the proof of that. I switched to a small company who provides DSL, and is leasing from ATT. Their Motorola modems didn't do well at all, so after much research, I went with this Netgear, knowing that I could take it back if it didn't perform well.It would have worked if I knew what the instructions were saying, and also found some lacking pertinent info in the setup. I called Netgear, and got the agent with a classic foreign accent... such a thrill. The guy was egotistical in the way that he wanted to be right about everything which took more time, but I was the one who figured out that I needed an ID and password to get Netgear to recognize my ISP. I didn't know what it was, but eventually found that the email address my ISP had given me was actually my ID... they just never told me that.There's more details to all that but I'm going to skip it in order to be brief. Netgear had a manager get on the phone to ask how their agent performed. I praised him for his diligence, but mentioned his ego got in the way, and that after I personally figured out the answer, the agent kept saying " I told you so!" No he didn't, at least not in clear sense. He knew there was an ID but didn't mention it was in the form of an email address I never use.Lastly, the splitter that came with the Netgear didn't work on the DSL side. Tried it several times, so I went back to my old one.Called Netgear and they said I have to exchange it at the place I bought the unit. Drove all that way to find out they could not replace it, but only the entire unit. Arrggh. Called Netgear to pressure them to take back the bad spitter and give me a new one or I'll take it all back and get a different brand. They refused.I now have a different brand modem. Netgear lost a sale. Done.When the modem was working with my old splitter, it worked fine which is why I gave it the rating of 4, but the hurtle I dealt with takes off one star for instructions lacking in clarity and goofy agents. They really did make obvious good efforts here and there, but there's room for much improvement... like, replace the splitter already !! You lose customer that way... like me. 08/16/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Didnt' fit our system If you have any kind of cable modem hook up, like with cox, this modem will not work with your system. It only hooks up to a phone line. I did not see that in any product description. Had to return it and get a different one. 08/19/2013
