Steppers are harder on the knees than say, a rear drive elliptical that more closely resembles walking or running but without the impact.

  • A. No. This has the feel of a traditional elliptical. I have problems with my knee and have no complaints. I use it 3 times a week for 1/2 hr.

  • A. It's not like a stepper, but easy on the knees. The only thing we felt were sore muscles when we first got it.

  • A. This is a true elliptical. I have bad knees also. It is very natural. It is built a bit high in order to achieve this natural motion, and I am very short, so I have a brick centered in the rear of the machine on a nonskid pad to step up onto the machine with. It does not obstruct the motion, if you are taller you may not need this tip. But this machine tracks smoothly back and forth and does not go in a circular motion as some do. It feels very good on my knees and has greatly improved their condition.

  • A. If you put the back seats down is should fit. It is packed in a box that is 44 inches by 17 inches by 30 inches. If you can get the box 44 inches into the length of the Santa Fe (which I'm sure you can, it should fit fine. The box is heavy, it weighs about 175 pounds; so bring a friend.

  • A. If you can put your seats down and have some help that may work. You would be safer if you have a buddy with a pickup and a dolly to move it with.

  • A. It came in a pretty big box, not sure it would fit in a car. Don't think we paid anywhere close to $70 for shipping, if I recall, it was pretty reasonable. It was shipped through a shipping company, not Fed Ex or UPS.

This elliptical is good, almost gym quality and for the price, that's really unbeatable. There was an issue right out of the box before assembly. The seam of the base was inside out and not lined up properly from the manufacture (see pictures attached). My husband had to take out screws of the base to put the seem in correctly to fix this so that the other parts would fit on properly. He thought the directions were ambiguous and it took about 2 hours to finish. Once he got it all assembled it works great. I like the display shows you distance, speed, heart rate, calories burned, etc. You can customize it and save it by name for the different users, which my husband likes. I just usually do quick start. The heart rate handles are perfect for my height (5'5), but my husband feels it's in an awkward spot for him (6') and you cannot adjust the height. We've both been using this machine daily for a couple weeks since we got it and it's now making a creeky noise, but it's not that loud. Overall this is a good product and great value!

My Nautilus E514 Elliptical Trainer does not work

I opted to spend nearly $700 on a brand name Elliptical. although this is at the low end for a Nautilus, it came recommended from consumer reports. Unfortunately, the product is not operational and I have never been able to use it. Nautilus customer services was very friendly and responsive and I received a new servo motor in the mail two weeks after I spoke with customer service. I am now waiting for a 3rd party, Exertech, who contracts with Nautilus, to come to my house yo install the new part. Of course no one really knows if this is actually the faulty part that needs to be replaced. However, the very nice customer service agent from Nautilus believes that a new servo motor will correct the problem. Currently, the elliptical has a lot of resistance and is very difficult to peddle (I am athletic and ride my road bike long distances). The level of resistance cannot be changed with the controls as designed. Hopefully I'll actually be able to use the product after it gets repaired next week.

My girlfriend saw this machine and wanted to buy it for $899. I shopped around and found that Walmart had the best price at $ 674 (I think)and it was the same model she had seen somewhere else so it was a win win for me. The young woman associate that helped me was wonderful which made this experience even better. I had it shipped "site to store" and within 2 weeks there it was. I did call them to see if it was there rather than waiting for the e-mail to say so which I'm glad because the e-mail came another 4 days later. The box was damaged but after inspecting before I signed away everything seemed fine. Got the box home opened it up and about an hour later it was ready. I did use my own extended allen key that someone suggested on another review site and my own wrenches. My girlfriend loves it. It's quiet and very smooth just like it was on the showroom floor. So, definate best buy for us

I bought this based on the other product reviews, which were really good and I'm not disappointed. It's really super quiet when in use and is a nice looking machine. Bigger than I thought it would be, but still fits nicely in the corner of the room. The fan itself is a bit noisy but fairly effective. Overall, very pleased and am happy to use it. Would definitely recommend.

I purchased this elliptical machine based on a Consumer Reports review and I am thrilled with it!!! Not only was it easy to assemble, but it allows me to get a great workout and feel comfortable while using it. I have problems with my knee and back, which were significant in my decision to purchase an elliptical machine over a treadmill, and I couldn't be happier! I would definitely recommend this particular machine to anyone...whether they are an avid exerciser or just beginning to make a change to get healthier. The price was just the tip of the iceberg...a phenomenal value for such a reputable brand!!!
