Rated 4 out of 5 by mjk132 I bought this product for a small apartment to extend my range from the kitchen (in the front of the apartment) to the back bedroom. It works well for this purpose, and would also probably work well for trips. The range isn't very big though so anyone looking for a large coverage area should look elsewhere. I occationally have to reset the extender to get it to work, but overall it works for its intended purpose. I would say it's a bit pricey for the range limit.

We bought this product to stop the internet outages and extend the range of our WiFi. There have been far fewer outages and the internet is faster.
We did have to try a couple of locations in order to get our 2 computers to recognize the extender, but after that there was great improvement.
Rated 2 out of 5 by SlackerMom Too Weak to Run Netflix Using a Wii ...
This device definitely extends the range of a wireless modem, but the signal is not strong enough to run Netflix instant play using a Wii. Even if it's sitting 15 feet from the TV and the light is green (indicating full strength), movies just will not play smoothly. You get the "interrupted" pauses every few seconds. I live in a 3rd floor condo with a lot of wireless interference.
However, I think this device would work for some applications. After installing it with help from a toll-free number, my modem did at least show up as an access point on the Wii. (It wasn't even on the list beforehand.)
However, for my purposes, I had to return it. We had to move the modem to a more favorable position. My son's PS3 has a stronger wireless ability, so part of the fault may be with the Wii.

I was very leary of buying this because I was just browsing walmart and came across this. I have never used anything like it. It was very easy to set up. Just plugged it in and opened a net browser and conencted to a wifi signal.
I bought this hoping I could extend my in laws wifi range through out my house. My inlaws live at least 900 feet away. I got 1 maybe 2 bars on my laptop without the extender.
There is nothing in between our houses just an open field and of course our house walls. I plugged in the extended logged into there page and set it up.
I now get 5 bars and fast internet on laptop as well as 2 or 3 bars upstairs in my bedroom with the door closed on my tablet.
I have the extender plugged into a power cord sitting in my window closest to there house. I have never had a signal drop always a constant 5 bars, no matter the weather either. I can watch netflix youtube as well as download without any trouble! I also have my xbox and DISH receiver connected to it and am able to play games online with my xbox without any trouble. My inlaws have a Cisco router with comcast internet.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to extend wifi signal! I had a C.Crane wifi adapter and a 5dbi antenna before plugged into my laptop and it could only get 3 bars at best and was not able to do much except basic browsing. No videos or downloading. Again I highly recommend this!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rangeryder Perfect solution to extend WiFi range
My bedroom was out of range to access Wi-Fi provided by my Belkin 802.11b/g/n router. I now connect consistantly with a 5/5 connection strength at 110+Mbps. The Netgear Wi-Fi range extender is a perfect solution to extend Wi-Fi range. The "Push 'N' Connect" feature, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), worked painlessly to connect to my WPA2-PSK-secured home network. Comparing my experience with an earlier generation of Wi-Fi extender (Linksys Wireless-G ranged expander, WRE54G) this Netgear Wi-Fi extender exceeds my expectations. I can recommend this equipment without reservation.
Rated 5 out of 5 by MrPunk Worked Great! Know what you have before you buy!
For all the people that are upset with this product I suggest you know what you have and need before you buy it! The best part is you do not even have to use WPS to get it going since it has a RJ45 built in.
Great product if you know what you are doing and know what you are hooking it up too, I have a Netgear N600 model DGND3700 and used this product to extend my network to cover my home 1800+sq feet not including the pool and deck and all is great this Netgear Extender WN3000RP is the way to go. If you have a Gig card or a Gig WLAN port you will be happy.
First have your network up and running and make sure the security is WPA2-PSK [AES] then plug the extender in the same room as your Modem/Router. Wait for the green light to come on and then on the extender push the WPS button on the extender until it starts to blink, then on the parent (Router/Modem) push its WPS button and it connected without a problem for me.
Remember that the WN3000RP it will be listed under your network connection with the same name as your SSID but with a –EXT next to it. Well just connect your extender with your normal SSID phrase word/password and then you are connected, as you move around closer to your router just switch back to your main parent wifi and keep going.
First try I got all green lights and as a matter of fact the extender holds the connection as I walk around. Just remember each extender works different with different routers just make sure you get the one you NEED.
Or maybe the ones having problems needs someone to help them for a cheap price hint hint… lol. Never know might meet some friends that I can help understand all this stuff.
Off topic but does anyone need a Netgear N600 DGND3700 cheap still in box with plastic wrapping have an extra one.
Anyways good Luck Mr. Punk

I was very excited when I bought this thing because it covered my entire house with WiFi. It was working beautifully for half a day. Then it started disconnecting from the internet. I tried moving it to different locations in my house but it made no difference. I gave it static IP settings no difference. I even updated the firmware but it still made no difference. Had my hopes up for nothing now I have to go back to two access points in my house which is annoying when I move around the house I have to switch between two APs on my cell phone which gets no signal from my cell phone company.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymoussssssssssss This product is horrible!
This did NOT work for me! It worked for about 2 hours and then it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting! Tried everything and it still won't work! I will be returning it tomorrow! Don't buy this product!!!!!
Rated 1 out of 5 by t662s09 Would not work after 2 minutes
I anxiously installed the 'extender' and it worked perfect for two minutes and then security forced its way in. Following the easy steps (10x +) I could not get it to connect. The 'extender' connected to the Netgear router but would not go thru to the internet. Frustrating. I continuously reset the 'factory settings' and tried again. I meticulously followed the easy Netgear 'install' instructions but to no avail.
WALMART accepted the RETURN without question after a few days. They were the highlight of the purchase. So, I continue to shop Walmart.com. Really could use an 'extender' but.....
Rated 5 out of 5 by OCLTD Excellent. Easy. Perfect solution.
Perfect solution to extend my Comcast wireless range to all levels of my home. Simply plug in the product - half way is recommended - between where you are not getting good reception and the router. Push the button on the side of the product and the router - within two minutes of each other and you are all set. The Extender is now connected to the router - you just have to connect to the extender from where you do not get good service. The new network will have your old network name appended with _EXT. All passwords or pass phrases stay the same. When you want to connect from a poor service area - connect to the _EXT network. So now you have two networks - the original and the _EXT. I even moved it the next day and had to do nothing but plug it in. This product was recommended on the Comcast home page - decided to go for it. Works like a charm. Just Buy It!
Rated 5 out of 5 by BLACKBART1 Exellent Product IF...
Purchased it, installed it and it works Great!!!
If you have a week signal/speed to begin with dont bother...get a new/fast router g/n. If you have fast wi fi and live in a 2 story or a house were your router has to go around a lot of turns to make the main conections and your wi fi devices are doing a lot of throttling in Certain areas of you home GET IT!
IN ORDER TO SEE MOVIES WITH NETFIX OR UTUBE ECT. VIA WIFI YOU NEED A STRONG SIGNAL AND A FAST WI FI
Rated 1 out of 5 by Dadslilboy Could only get limited access with extender
I went through the setup with the extender in the same room as my router, and it appeared to connect correctly. When connecting to the extender, I get limited access in my network sharing area, but I cannot connect to the internet. Since there is no support with this when you purchase the product ($129 separate charge), it is useless. I am trying to connect up to my Belkin Router. I am returning this and getting a Belkin Extender tomorrow. Waste of money.
Rated 2 out of 5 by guaporras Not really that good
The major problem is that it would lose connection 4 to 5 times a day. Very aggravating because the purpose of the extender was to get wireless to my cabanna which is about 50 ft from the main house. After moving the distance several times I realized it just wasn't going to work out. I returned it, bought a cheaper product (from the same manafacturer NetGear) and it is fantastic! That is one of the best things about Walmart. It may not work for you off the bat but the return policy and customer service is EXCELLENT!
Rated 5 out of 5 by FLSTS01 Outstanding product
I needed to somehow enhance my WiFi signal so I could read my Kindle on the outside patio. Did some research but , as usual, people and their contradictory reviews - sheesh.
Anyway, I ended up buying this and am astounded on how easy it was to set up and use. Plugged it in, hit the WPS button, went into the computer room and hit the WPS button on the router and by the time I had walked back into the kitchen all lights were lit up green.
Went outside, onto the patio, turned my kindle on and had 5 bars versus only 1 which I had gotten only minutes ago. Well one small thing, the Kindle recognized the range extender and that is what I had to switch to but than was less than 2 minutes worth of work. Even my cell phone (Iphone 4S) now gets maximum signal. Made me a happy camper.
Still amazed on simple it was to hook up and use ! ! ! Honest. Heck even the instructions included in the box were witten clearly. Dand so easy to use.
Rated 2 out of 5 by kdba1008 bad disciption
if i had been told that netgear support for this item is an addtional $129, I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT. HOOKED UP AS DIRECTED- SIGNAL STILL DROP CAUSING BLUERAY TO REBUFFER OR RESTART DUE TO LOST SIGNAL, THUMBS DOWN
Rated 4 out of 5 by AvgMac Simple Solution
Easy to set up and install. Connected to my existing WiFi with no problem. Low profile. 100-240V capable which is convenient because I am overseas at the moment. It successfully extended my home network to parts of my house that a single WiFi modem couldn't reach. The primary drawback for me was that it operates as a separate network with its own SSID. Because of this you have to manually switch to the Extender's network or wait until your wireless device completely looses signal and switches automatically. It would be nice if it was a little more seamless.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Globemallow Works better than I expected.
I live in a mobile home park and receive WiFi from the clubhouse located right across the street. The signal was weak (1-2 bars) during the hours of peak use. The only time I could get online was late at night or the during the very early hours of the morning. I plugged in the Netgear Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender to a wall outlet located closest to the clubhouse. I can get online anytime of day now and I can also view NetFlix on my Samsung Smart TV.

Rated 4 out of 5 Extends range of AT&T wireless router
This is was my second attempt to get a range extender for the 2WIRE wireless router provided with AT&T U-verse service. Apparently the 2WIRE router does not recognize the addressing used by most range extenders (which is why this is the one AT&T sells directly). This was extremely simple to set up, and it works. I give 4 instead of 5 stars because this Netgear extender creates a second wi-fi network (named "BaseNet_EXT"). So instead of just logging in to "BaseNet" and getting a good signal anywhere in the house, sometimes I have to manually switch between "BaseNet" and "BaseNet_EXT". I suppose that really goes back to the addressing limitation of the 2WIRE router, but it leaves the entire system not quite as effective as others.
Rated 5 out of 5 by kevin681071 really works
I bought this product due to the fact I moved to a larger house and the wifi signal was not strong in all the rooms. In addition to the signal being weak in some rooms the wifi signal was being interfered with by the baby monitor. This product is very simple to set up, literally two minutes then it is just a matter of changing your wifi hookup defualt on each device you want connected to the extended network. This device seemed to solve all my problems, I have full wifi service through out the entire house including garage and outside. I would definitely recommend this product to eliminate dead spots or extend the range of your exisiting network.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Glitches Perfect for a large home!
Our house is 4400 sq. ft. over 3 floors and I had many dead spots where my wirelss signal was not there or very-very weak. Set up of the Extender is quick and easy and all of my devices throughout my home actually "see" it with a stronger signal than the main router, albeit it is transimitting to the main router. Stuck it in our master bedroom walk-in closet and have great coverage. Putting it in there keeps our Huskies from claiming it...LOL. They claimed the first one that was in the hallway so this is a replacement. But you see that I went right back to the same product because of its reliability. I had the first one up and running for a couple of years and this one has been up for a couple of months.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LizaDo TOO CUMBERSOME
It took me about 2-3 hours to find a location that would identify the router, yet be in the area where I needed the range. There were difficulties finding the router, setting up the extender and it shouldn't have to be that difficult. I need another extender for another property and I'm choosing something else!

Rated 5 out of 5 by dyannck really good for short range
We live in a tri level home and My internet would not reach the top or bottom levels very well. With this extender, I get full cells upstairs, downstairs and short range outside. Love it. But I am a NETGEAR fan anyway. I have had a number of their products and have always been very satisfied with them. If you have a problem they will walk you through what to do. However, their instructions are very easy to follow.
