My wireless network was dropping, slow and annoying. I had a Linksys that was about 4 years old. I tried every troubleshooting trick I could think of to fix my issues. I looked online to see what routers were available at my local Wal-Mart (I live in a little South Texas town so I didn't expect much) and saw the other reviews on here. I thought they had to be too good to be true. I got home, set up the router and was amazed at the results. I did a speed test this morning with my old router and I got a measly 3 mb down, sometimes worse. (I pay for 10 mb down). I did a speed test after installing this router...12 mb down! That test was run while my wife watched a streaming Netflix movie on her iPad, I downloaded updates on a Linux box and my daughter played an online game. Needless to say I am very pleased so I felt compelled to return here and review it since the other reviews influenced my choice. Thank you former reviewers...you were right on the mark with this one. Another pleasant surprise was increased range. My back bedroom would maybe get one bar of signal before. Now everywhere in the house (2200 sq ft) gets full signal. I don't know how well the auto-set up tools work cause I set everything up manually but the router is great.

Runs 10 Wireless Devices and 3 Wired JUST GREAT!

The reason I bought this product was because my AT&T DSL kept dropping in and out every 5 mins. It was because I was overloading the wireless side of the AT&T Router. I have 10 wireless devices and and 3 wired devices. Now that I've installed this router not only does it support all 10 wireless devices but supports the 2 xbox 360's at once along with the PS3 and multiple computers without extreme lag. The features on setting this up are really easy once you know how to log in. Also best idea is to use the WPA encryption on all of your wireless devices. I know the range on mine is past the end of the block because it's in the 2nd floor in my house. I hope this helps you with your decision!

After reading countless reviews that said this is the router to have right now I finally purchased and was not dissapointed. According to the reviews this router has the best range of any router currently out and the wired performance is double that of the other its closest competitors. I have 1 PC hooked up wired, 1 PC wireless, an Iphone, xbox360 wireless, and PS3 wireless and this router has worked great so far with great signals with no drop outs so far. Much better than my 4 year old wireless router. Tip: the matching netgear wireless USB adaptor is trash according to most reviews so if you need an adaptor buy another brand's and use it with this router.

I've had computer connection problems for months. I have a desktop, 3 laptops, 5 cell phones, ipad and ipod between My Family members and we constantly get slow connection, no connection, or just knocked off line all day long. This was very frustrating for me and especially my son who is in college and needs to do his class work or turn in a paper before deadline. He is enrolled in college online. So finally we had enough and I talked to a tech guy from my cable co and he recommend a new router, mine was pretty old. I already had a netgear so I decided to stay with same brand. Tech also recommended netgear because he had one. I studied the ones online and read the reviews. I narrowed it down to 2 but decided to go with the n600 because it has such good reviews and I always read reviews before I buy. The other one was more expensive but I made the right choice. No problem at all since I got it. It's been almost a month. This is one of My best investments yet!!!!!! You will not go wrong with the N600 Netgear.

I did a ton of research on wireless modems (links below)...wanted to make sure that the one I chose would have a good range and be able to support wifi streaming for my blu ray (downstairs and thru a couple of walls)...got 4 (out of 6) bars in reception and streaming has worked without a hitch. The gigabit ethernet connections provided quite a speed boost for my PC's as well... http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Wireless-Router-2010 http://reviews.cnet.com/best-wireless-routers/ http://www.consumersearch.com/wireless-routers/best-wireless-routers http://www.consumersearch.com/wireless-routers/important-features http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/30925?task=view http://www.maximumpc.com/article/reviews/netgear_rangemax_wndr3700 http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netgear-wndr3700-rangemax-dual/4505-3319_7-33485574.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody;1r http://www.digitaltrends.com/router-access-point-reviews/netgear-wndr3700-review/ http://gizmodo.com/5675479/the-ultimate-router-battle I little more than I'd planned to spend (hence just 4 stars on my Value rating), but very happy with the results...set-up was a breeze, too!

I have a desktop and an xbox in one room, and down the hall i'd say about 30-40 feet i have my wifes xbox (both with live). I know the xbox's will need the adapter. How do I make my entire house wireless both upstairs and down? Do I just need this product or do I need something to go with it for my desktop? Currently were running ethernet cables to everything and with a baby I really don't want her to get into the wires.

    • A. A single "wireless router" like the 3700 should be all you need. If you don't need the dual band functionality of the 3700, you might try the next model down. I have a single 3700 and get good reception throughout the house, adequate for my college aged kid's gaming and general on-line happiness. Logic says to place the router centrally but you might find it works better somewhere else due to the obstacles in the house (walls, floors, etc.)

    • A. All you need is a moden as well as thios router. If you have a modem/router combo know, as I did, all you would have to do is bridge the current moden/router so the new router will work with it. It sounds more complicated than it is. We currently have 4 xbox's in our house all with live. I would suggest running them with the ethernet cord with this router instead of wireless. The reason is the ethernet connections run at gigabit speed whick works great for gaming!

    • A. This router will work fine. Just be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines about where you place the router(not near large metal objects. etc.). You will need to run a single cable from your cable modem/ADSL modem to the router. I get almost 100' range at my house! If you place the router near your PC desktop you just need a cable to the router(assuming you have a network adapter in your desktop PC). Otherwise you can get a wireless network adapter (USB/PCI card) to plug into your desktop PC.

    • A. You need broadband computer connection. A good wireless router like the Netgear model 3700 (download and upload speeds are incredible) although range could be better. Depending on size of house a repeater might be necessary. Don"t get one until you install the router then check your signal strength. Your smart phone is great for checking signal strength. Just turn on wi fi in settings and wander around the house and yard checking signal strength. There are various devices to boost signal such as antennas, repeaters if need be. And ethernet cable (usually included) to connect the wireless router to the modem and ethernet cable from modem to computer. Using wi fi you will get a connection many times faster than 3G on your cell phone or laptop or other device witout using your data. Music and vids stream smoothly without buffering. You just connect wireless router to modem and you may need a wireless usb adapter for some devices. You have to use microsofts own exclusively with xbox. How much more money does Bill need? Anyway you're now wireless and with this equipment you will have wi fi thats the best and fastest currently available. Don't forget to password protect your wireless account that is a must! With the particularl Netgear router aforementioned you can set up a seperate guest network but if you set one up you will potentially slow your own connection speed down. Let the neighbors get their on wi fi. I hope this has been helpful.

    • A. If the items you are trying to connect to are not in range you will need a repeater. So run an eithernet line from the router downstairs to a wireless repeater upstairs.
