I just wanted a decent and cheap mower, I only have a 1/2 acre yard and didn't need anything special. I read some controversial reviews about this however I haven't seen anything substantial to complain about. But, if I'm picky.....the manual wasn't for the correct model, good thing was that there wasn't really a need for it (unless you know NOTHING about mowers), and the oil cap was REALLY hard to get off because the threads were ALREADY stripped, I've used it a few times now and haven't seen any leaks. Speaking of oil, it comes with a bottle - empty the bottle in the mower - I say this b/c I didn't see anything to tell you to do so. All in all it's a good mower for around $150, some people were complaining it didn't have certain features like throttle assist...honestly I wouldn't expect that from a $150 mower. As far as reliability I haven't had any issues so far.

The lawnmower started out great....until after about 2 months of use. It won't start and the pull cord broke. I'm a girl so this had to be a very weak pull cord. It now sits in my garage unable to start. It comes with a warranty but everything except the engine is covered (just my luck). I would not recommend this to anyone who is trying to take care of a small or large yard. It simply does not last.

I bought my mower about three weeks ago and am ready to trash it. There is a strange new gas cap. The first one broke after a week, one of the plastic lips broke off. Wal-Mart does not carry replacements. A local repair shop had to order one and it cost $11. Now, about ten days later, the same thing has happened again, so I will now be out another $11 for one of these strange gas caps. A gas cap sounds like a small thing, but this alone will keep me from ever buying one of these again.

    • A. The kit is a simple plastic plate that unsnaps from the discharge chute hinge pin without using any tools. The mower can be used without the optional mulch plate to discharge clippings out the side.

    • A. No. You can remove the mulch clip and use just the scoop.

    • A. The mulch kit can be removed. All that needs to be done is lift the flap on the side and remove the plate underneath. When this is done the grass is discharged through the opening rather then being mulched.

    • A. The plastic mulch plate can be easily removed if you do not wish to use it. The mower will then discharge your grass without mulching.

    • A. it is not a kit all it is is a plate that cover the whole where the grass come out so all of the grass will be clip in side the mower all that kit is is a plate now if you remove that mulch plate then the grass will shoot out of the mower side ways then you will have to rake the yard up

    • A. The mulch kit comes on the lawnmower, but it is removeable if you want the grass to be side-discharged instead of mulched. it is very easy to remove and re-attach.

    • A. Yes this unit will cut with or without mulch kit or the plug in place. Without plug unit will not be mulching grass however and will simply discharge the grass if that is what you prefer.

    • A. If the cap has 2 knobs on top, simply grasp the knobs and turn counter-clockwise. The cap should unscrew and it will have a dipstick attached to the bottom. If it is stubborn, you could try inserting a flat screwdriver in the indention and gently turn counter-clockwise.

I have a large bank(ditch) by the road, that is steep, 6-8 feet I bought a mower a while back but with this tough terrain the wheels kept breaking, my question is, will this mower be able to hold up for a few years without the wheels breaking from mowing.

    • A. I doubt that the plastic wheels would hold up under those conditions for a few years. I have not seen any push mowers lately with good quality wheels. I also have a steep hill to mow and I believe that metal ball-bearing type wheels from the local hardware store can be easily installed on this mower the same way that I replaced the plastic ones on my last Murray.

    • A. I've found this mower hard to push on level ground, so I would not recommend it for your situation. Look for a front-drive self-propelled mower. The advantage of front-drive is that you can lift the drive wheels if you need to maneuver around something. Can't do that very easily with rear-wheel drive. If you don't want a self-propelled mower, at least get one with large rear wheels.

    • A. This model isn't really designed for that type of terrain but replacement wheels aren't very expensive on eBay and stores like harbor freight. A "big rear wheel" model would be a better choice IMHO.

    • A. Maybe but the wheels are make completely of plastic. You might be able to get an aftermarket wheels that are made of steel and rubber. This model of push lawn mower is light and easy to handle so it might make mowing your ditch less work.
