My husband uses this mower to mow the 0.5 acres we have. The land is uneven and weed infested and this mower works just fine. This last weekend he decided to take it through a high brush area. This mower destroyed every thing in its path with ease ( including my many high bush blueberries... poor blueberries ) . I was sure he was going to destroy the mower but it still works and runs just fine. Great mower and well worth the money.

I appreciated that I didn't need a bunch of tools to assemble the mower. It starts every time with one pull of the cord. The mower is well made, except for the decision of some engineer to hide the oil tank. The instruction manual doesn't show you where the tank is located. It turns out that it is hidden under the housing, which means you can't just pour in the oil. Unless you have a funnel with a long neck to reach the tank in the recessed location, you won't be able to get the oil in the tank. Also, the cap on the oil tank was on so tight, it was necessary to use a wrench to get it open.

    • A. I too have had back surgery, and am disabled. After u push the primer 3 times as it says, pull the cord 1 time and it starts right up! The hard part is pushing it 1-2 acres. Very easy and enjoyable for those Out Dorsey types! The only time you have to re prime is after each fill up. otherwise you can stop take a drink , light a cig, pull cord and go again! Very easy

    • A. Pull handle located approx half-way up mower handle. Depending on how tall the person is, there should not be a need to bend over to pull.

    • A. Yes, there's a loop that holds the pull cord about halfway up the handle. It's easy to reach and does not require a lot of bending and stooping. The mower usually starts on the first pull, but if you don't hold the emergency stop handle down while you prime the primer bulb, that seems to make it harder to start. Get a zip tie and mount it on the right side of the emergency stop handle. Be careful about getting it too tight, make sure it will slide to the top of the hand while mowing and make sure you can easily slide it down the right side (toward the starter rope) to kill the engine. Having this in the "run" or "holding the handle down" position while priming the primer bulb as well as starting the mower is the way it has to be done

    • A. There is no separate oil drainage plug as others have indicated! I have owned this model and the one before this one came out! You have to take off the fill plug cap/dip stick- turn on side to drain out! I recommend the gas tank be empty as well when you do this. You may, and I have had an oil/gas mixture mess to deal with. My bet is take it to a near by shop/ yearly $29 fee maintenance and they do it all for you! At which time you may want to replace your pull cord as well! For all of us in the South where we mow practically yr. round!!!

    • A. No, you have to tilt it to get the oil out. Best to unscrew the top (near the cord holder) so the oil does not make a mess draining.

    • A. There is no separate drain plug on the bottom of the engine. You drain the oil out using the fill plug by tipping the mower.
