Mr. Coffee 12-Cup "No Carafe" Coffee Maker 2.2 5 87 89
Cheap quality, not worth the price Because of my experience (as follows) with this product, I do not recommend it at all, even though I have used several Mr. Coffee products over the years without any problem.I purchased this item from my local Walmart store in July. Earlier this month (October) the little clear plastic grommet inside the basket fell out while dumping out the used coffee filter and rendered the basket useless because it was needed to hold in the spring mechanism. I received a replacement basket under warranty from Jarden's who sells the replacement parts. Two days after receiving the basket, the handle/flap that holds in the pumping mechanism on the front reservoir melted at the joint and would no longer stay in place. I called Jarden's that same morning (yesterday) again to see if they had a replacement part for that, and they did not, but said they would send me a complete brand new unit. I tried seeing if the unit would work with just the one handle, but then found that the other handle had also melted at the same place, so the pumping lever at the front would not work at all, because I am assuming it could not build up pressure due to the handles not being locked in place and therefore not functioning correctly. Hopefully the replacement unit when it arrives will work better, if not I will leave my review as is. 10/26/2011
Had this for about 2 or 3 months and it never worked right. It overflows and the filter basket broke also made the worst sound when pouring coffee. Paid about 50.00 for it what a waste of money.Hate it.It looks good but doesn't work. 10/18/2011
Don't waste your money! I bought this pot when my old Hamilton Beach finally died on me, and Wal-Mart didn't have any more. I wish I had returned this when I first bought it and got my money back, but quite simply, I gotta have my coffee in the morning. I haven't had the problems a lot of the reviewers have had, in which the Mr. Coffee simply stops working properly; I've had mine a few months now and it still brews the right amount, and does so in the usual amount of time.My problem is with the quality of the coffee itself- I use the same coffee I used with my Hamilton Beach, but for some reason with the Mr Coffee it tastes bitter. (I have found that using less coffee grounds helps, but it still never tastes right.# Even the first cup isn't that hot, and the heating element doesn't work very well, because if I pour another cup 45 minutes after the pot finishes brewing, the coffee is lukewarm at best. Occasionally the pump will make the jet-engine noise that indicates it's pumping the coffee up, but nothing comes out.In short, even if it doesn't break after half a dozen uses, it's still not worth purchasing. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy another Hamilton Beach #assuming I can find one) and save this for "emergencies". 10/18/2011
Lasted a week. Terrible! My coffee pot worked really well for a week, then it stopped working. Now when you push the on button, it makes about 1/4 cup. Drives me crazy! So now to get a whole pot of coffee, I have to push the button, wait til my 1/4 cup is brewed..repeat..I have to repeat this process about 30-40 times to get the whole pot brewed!Worst coffee pot Ive ever had! Don't waste your money. Mr. Coffee is not a good brand. 10/14/2011
