I must say that the other reviewer of this coffee pot must have purchased a defective product. My husband finally got tired of replacing my $20 coffee makers and we bought this. He wakes up 4-5 a.m. and I normally wake up 8-9 a.m. Which means I NEVER got hot coffee with my old coffee makers. With the new Mr. Coffee I always get a nice, hot cup of coffee. The coffee stays steaming hot in the carafe for about 7 hours! And when I empty the pot to set up the coffee for the morning, the coffee inside the carafe is still warm--after about 16 hours! This product is awsome.

I have bought 5 of these for others and myself (Bought Another and Another, prev review) Now I know what others mean when they said it leaks on the counter and leaves water in the basket. 1 of 5 leaked and it's defective, but I can only say, return it if it does. They are a fabulous coffee maker when they work right. If you got a flawed one, you'll know it when you test it by running a pot of just water. You should immediately hear the water going into the pot. If not, get the paper towel handy. Otherwise, it's everything the 5 stars say it is; HOT coffee for hours, fast, neat, easy to clean, nice looking, small footprint. Probably not a good gift idea.

What a great product this is! We had a Cuisinart that was about three times the cost of this coffee maker. Our Cuisinart stopped working on us after only having it for 2 years. I ran to Walmart to pick up a new coffee maker, not expecting much, and not wanting to spend a lot of money. I got this one for $64 on sale and can not believe what GREAT coffee it makes! It works perfectly, I love the removable water resevoir and coffee basket, I love that it takes standard coffee filters, and it looks great! Do not be discouraged by the negative feedback on this product; I would rather have a cup of coffee from this machine than one from Caribou or Starbucks any day of the week!

When the cheapo pot I had was recalled (for overheating, which was somewhat ironic because I loathed the thing for not keeping the coffee hot), I decided to bite the bullet and buy this somewhat pricey coffee pot as the word HOT COFFEE was in big letters all over the packaging and it had a thermal carafe, which in theory should keep it hot. I got it home, thrilled with my purchase. Because it had a timer and the carafe, my ultra hot coffee would be waiting for me whether I was up with the sun or slept in. Sad was I when I woke up the next morning to find no coffee. There was nothing in the carafe. Half of the water was left in the reservoir. I found the other half all over the countertop, hard to face without the benefit of a single droplet of coffee. I then made a pot of coffee. No problems, not a drop of water out of place. And that first cup was great. Even with the cream I add to it, it was piping hot and just what I needed. The second cup was still hot. Not as hot as the first, but still pretty good. However, by the time I got to the last cup (which with the cup size I use, is really about four cups), it was lukewarm at best, and I was again forced to microwave my coffee to get it up to a palatable temperature. Oh, well, I tell myself. I'll just drink faster tomorrow. Silly me. I woke up again to the half pot of water in the reservoir and the other half all over the countertop. Again nuking the last couple of cups to get them hot. For a week I tried it. Obviously I was doing something right because I could make coffee on the normal 'on' situation, but the use of the timer eluded me, and every morning for six days I woke to find a wet countertop. In disgust, I have boxed the whole thing up and it's going back tomorrow. In summary, this is a beautiful looking pot. If you drink your coffee very fast or have multiple people drinking out of the pot, it may be hot enough to get you through to the end of the pot. And if you don't need the auto-on timer, you may actually get your coffee without wiping down the counter first.

We needed to replace a great older model Mr. Coffee Thermal Carafe model. (after 4 years it was time). This one is quite unique. Having the removable/fillable water reservoir on one side and the removable coffee filter/grounds container on the other is very nice. This makes the unit much easier for under the counter usage as you do not have to move the unit each time to fill and brew a new pot. Pros: - Obvious/proven improvements on the thermal carafe as the coffee is much hotter upon brew (the carafe is closer to the dispenser so that less air gets to coffee before getting into the carafe) and stays hot longer. - Much easier access to add water and grounds. - Nice looking and simplistic, yet functional, design. - Storage for extra cord length Cons: (not really a con, more of an observation) - For us this wasn't an issue, however, it did cross our minds as something to note for others ... this coffee maker would be harder to work with if put in a corner as the removable pieces on each side would not pull out well. - Complaints about slow pour ... yes, it does take a few seconds to pour a cup. However, this also means you don't have a huge opening for the remaining coffee to get cold. If you require a race car finish pour ... remove lid, and drink directly from the carafe ;) One note: For those that make a full pot every time ... ensure that the carafe has been emptied prior to brewing a new pot or setting up timer function for the next brew cycle. Any complaints you find about overflow are most likely due to this. The only other thing that will cause this is improper filter placement or adding to much coffee grounds (we use 1/3 cup measure/10 cups for our taste). Overall, we are very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend. Also in favor of Mr. Coffee as a company, two years after purchasing our last unit the carafe lid seemed to be losing some of security when attached. Called the company and they had a new lid, free of charge, to our door in 4 days ... Hope this was helpful :)

If you can't wait the five minutes, you just pull out the carafe, it automatically stops brewing while you pour a cup, and when you replace the carafe, it returns to the brewing cycle automatically.

I can testify because we had a 20 person brunch the day after purchasing and brewed 5 pots straight and it was in fact minutes faster than any coffee maker I have had. We were able to keep up with our guests and our daily brewing needs.

    • A. Our Mr. Coffee is 5 or less but because it is so fast (10 cups) we do not get good flavor and have to use much more coffee or much stronger coffee and not tasting as we want. Check into that carefully before purchasing. You want speed AND flavor.
