The feeder uses a 6 volt alkaline battery, but comes with an adapter to use 4 D cell batteries. It has a port to plug in an optional solar charger which does not come with the feeder, but is sold separately.

This says it has "Power port for optional external power source". Does this mean a power source to operate this or this operates another device?

ITS BLACK AND NOT SILVER BUT I PUT A MAGNET UP TO IT AN IM PRETTY SURE ITS COVERING WIRE WITH A METAL OF SOME SORT

This thing is so easy to put together. Exact fit on all parts.  Nothing missing. Had to look it over a few times since is was sure I missed something since it went so easy and fast!

I must have been dreaming!

Purchased this feeder with hesitation at first thinking it would be cheaply made but I needed a mobile feeder. The feeder was simple to put together, also purchased the Moultrie battery and solar charger. I had to purchase a longer wing nut and bolt than the one that came with charger but after that the solar charger easily attached to feeder lid. The feeder does stand around 5'9" but I am short and used a bucket to fill the feeder. I was impressed with the distance the corn was thrown, approximately 20-25 feet. Motor was extremely quiet. I built a varmit cage to cover the entire feeder to prevent varmit chew through on the feeder housing. It will happen with all feeders unless made of metal. I also would suggest a security I-bolt be put on the feeder's housing to put a cable through to secure to a tree. I put the feeder up on a new land lease not knowing if or how the deer would react. I had mature bucks and does feeding literally under this 5'9" feeder in 6 days. Sold me Moultrie, I bought another one. Please do the couple things (feeder cage, I-bolt) I suggested because Nature has both 2 and 4 legged critters that wish to get into areas they don't belong. Good job Moultrie on reasonable priced, mobile feeder.

Easy to set up. Been in the deer woods for a while now and has experienced all kinds of wheather and still going strong

very easy to put together and program.  Love that it can be loaded from the ground.  Would recommend getting the varmint guard since coons and squirrels like to hang from the dispenser.   Would be nice if the top was made out of metal or tin.  Animals can chew through the top.

Good value for the money. Easy assembly. Legs were a little wobbly so I used some self tapping screws through some existing pilot holes to secure. Spinner throws corn really well. Very easy to program. Poly drum means it will last and last. Haven't been back to the unit since I installed it, letting the deer get used to it being out there. Will get back to check on it in a week or so but expect it to be operating well.

Simple assembly

This feeder is easy to assemble and use. Good digital display, easy to read, easy to set feeding times. Lets you know how much feed is left based on what your feeding times are set at. This feeder works great for good clean corn. I tried using protein pellets once and the pellets at the funnel/spinner plate  got moisture on them and swelled up and clogged the feeder. I had to redo the electrical connection going from the power box to the feeder motor because of the connection being loose and not letting the feeder come on at times. Works fine now. Overall this feeder is ok, I've been using it two years straight now.

Simply to use!!!

As others have commented the packaging on some Moultrie feeders are inadequate and hardware maybe missing. My first purchase of the “Classic Hunter” was missing almost all the hardware, and Walmart's website listed the Classic to have a metal funnel and spin plate. However, the “Classic Hunter” now comes with a plastic funnel and plastic spin plate. Walmart was generous in refunding this item and I upgraded to the “Easy fill”. The assembly was easy and I do like the design better but after assembling and filling with corn (approximately 175lbs, it would not hold 200 lbs), I found out the digital timer controller did not work. I tried multiple new batteries (that worked in another feeder) but would not work in the new feeder. I called Moultrie and they will be glad to repair the item with a 3-4 week return time once they receive it. Walmart is now out of stock so I can't exchange the item either. My advice is to at least assemble and test everything before spending the time and money for gas and corn to get out in the field only to find out you are missing hardware or the item does not work.
