I bought it for my 2 kids age 6 and 11. 3rd unit for myself to be aware of their conversations (spy on them) and just to have it as a spare unit.

definitely OK for about 4 and above but they are not very durable. There are kids in my neighborhood on these constantly.

My grandkids are 9 and up...they love them.

I purchased this 3-pack for my grandson's birthday present. The batteries were already charged...so they were ready to go as soon as he opened the box. I did purchase the extended warranty for 2 yrs ($6.50). I figure for a 10yr old, it will be worth it. He and his sister were off and running with them as soon as the batteries were installed. Dad was using the third one to keep track. I'm hoping they continue to have good times....

Great walkie talkies for the value

I own and run a horseback riding facility. For warm up and cool down I send the kids to ride through the field (warm up) or the woods (cool down). This puts them out of my eyesight. With the radios they can now contact me if there are problems and I can get to them to make sure everyone is safe! LOVE THESE RADIOS they stretch over the whole 25 acres and the trees are no problem, I can still hear them clearly at/in the barn. We will also be using them on the next cruise to keep track of each other there too!

Good Radio

I purchased this product after my 81 year old mother had a stroke. My sister flew in to help take care of her while i am working. the three of us use this product and my mother uses it and loves it. There is even a button on the walkie talkie for her just to ring us if she does not feel like talking.
I was worried my mom would hit the wrong button and accidentally change the channel in which we would not be able to communicate when I'm working outside. There is a lock on each set so she can't accidentally change anything since all three are in sync. When I'm at the store she can still communicate with me if she needs me to buy something. I highly recommend this product

These are okay for kids, but the battery pack is difficult to get in. The back part you have to take off is very flimsy- we ended up breaking it trying to open it! One Battery pack also did not charge correctly and we are having to order a new one! Works good once we got it all charged.

Nice for kids

We have three boys and needed walkie-talkies because our next-door neighbors recently got a set and the boys wanted to talk with them from house to house. We bought them as a Christmas present and they LOVE them. We've only had them a few days but they seem sturdy and work great. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was because my 3rd grader ran into the basement to put the batteries in and somehow yanked the cord right out of the battery charger. Hello, he'd had them for less than 2 minutes and already breaks something, but no surprise there. So it's really not a commentary on the product, but dang, I would have thought they would have been okay for a couple of days at least. Anyway, the walkie-talkie was fine and we now use rechargeable batteries in that one and it still works. Highly recommend these walkie-talkies but caution your kids to let YOU handle the battery charger.

Great Walkie-Talkies!

I purchased these for my daughters birthday. She wanted to be able to contact us when she was upstairs or outside the house. So far so good. They work perfectly! We live in a 3 story townhouse with thick concrete walls and have no issues receiving or making a transmission.

Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase. The product doesn't quite have the range that it specifies; I live in a rural area; with plenty of hills and trees; but it will barely pick up more than a few (5-6) miles out (much less than 20+)
When the radios ARE in range; the clarity of the speakers are impressive. They also have a very long battery life.

Worth the price.

I bought these for my 7 year old boy to talk to him around the house and not have to be yelling the whole time trying to look for him. They work great in the house and around the neighborhood :) but once you go about 2 miles the voice starts to break and then you hear a lot of static.
Serve my purpose though!

Great for kids!

we wanted to use these for a three car trip from south to north. Luckily we tested them beforehand and found we couldnt hear each other from my house to the entrance of our subdivision. I would have hated to count on them. Waste of money.

Range of less than a mile

I ordered these as a Christmas gift for my two grandsons. On the morning of the 23rd I took them out to get the batteries charged. Two of the three took right off charging but I had issues with the third. I decided to wait until the morning of the 24th to see if one of the charged batteries would work in the third radio. That morning I took out a charged battery and put it into the third radio and discovered the radio would not work. It acted as if there was no battery pack installed. So I tried the other charged pack and had the same results. I took the third battery pack and decided to try and charge it with the good radios and discovered it would not take a charge. So out of three radios, one did not work. Out of three battery packs, one would not work. So my wife and I decided to take them back after Christmas and look for another brand. When 1/3 fail out of a box, I do not think quality control is a priority for the builders of these units. I will try another brand.
