    Terrible "I was deciding between Minn Kota (MK) and this and for about the same money as the MK 40lbs thrust, I purchased the 45lb MotorGuide unit. Boy what a mistake. If you run the motor for an extended period, the motor will not switch off. You have to disconnect the unit for it to shut off. Apparently this is a known issue, just google "Motorguide varimax won't shut off." Well, exactly 5 days after the 1 year warranty ran out, my unit started having this problem. I guess that wouldn't be too bad if I ran the thing all the time but mind you, I don't get a chance to get on the water too often, but I had taken this out 4 times. (That's about all I get to go out with the boat) I ran the unit in all about 2 hours at a time. What a horrible piece of junk. Go with Minn Kota, you won't be sorry." 08/06/2010
