Rated 4 out of 5 by papadon51 great beginning i ordered 1 for my granddaughter and knew i must order another one for my other granddaughter. both of them were thrilled---they loved the password thing and the invisable writing--i'm hoping it allows them some "me time" in their lives! i'm sure a brother and a hammer could crack the password code but hopefully the girls will hide them well! 12/27/2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by BusyMom98765 Seems fun- when it works correctly. My daughter loves the music that plays when it opens and she loves the invisible ink pen and black light to make the ink show up. However, the password only works occasionally and the button to open it and reset the password is also intermittent, and sometimes when you close it, it keeps saying "goodbye" unless you leave it open for a while which seems to reset it. We will probably return it, although my daughter likes it enough to overlook the defects. 12/26/2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by nic0276 not worth the $ My dtr is 7 and loves to journal. She has trouble getting it to recognize her password. You have to speak very clear,kind of loud ,and almost put your face on it. The concept is great and she refused to return it because it is Monster High. Honestly,they make cuter journals for way less $ . I think this may be better suited for a girl 10+.Save your money or buy one of the dolls instead. 12/22/2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by EmilysNana Microphone is super-sensitive to voice inflection I bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter and it was just what she wanted although it was hard to get it to open every time on the first (or even the fourth) try. (after the second failure you also hear the sound of a howling wolf which can be a little annoying after a while) The inside "secret compartment" opened every time no matter how she said that code word but opening the outside was another story. She could eventually get it to open but only after numerous tries. We couldn't figure out why it kept saying she had the code word wrong since it was a three letter word so it must have been the inflection in her voice but if you have a child who is easily frustrated (mine wasn't) it could make some kids want to give up. Also, be sure to get AA batteries to go with it as they aren't included. 12/19/2012
