I use plastic grocery bags for painting stuff, then move it to a clean surface before they get stuck. You can use toothpicks to keep it up off the surface, and minimize the contact points, but this stuff is basically glue, so most anything is going to get stuck to it. Maybe a glass surface would allow it to pull off cleanly.

You could also paint the top half of the item, let it dry, then flip it to paint the bottom half, and let it dry.

Another option is to paint the item upside down with a support just on the inside, so the item never touches down. (Like using a tall bottle to hold up a vase, while you paint the outside, etc.) Good luck.

What does it NOT stick to? That is, what can I place the object on while painting it with Modge Podge?

Better off not to and for anything you want to use outside, just buy the MOD PODGE OUTDOORS and use that when making the item.

Can project be used outdoors after it is finished?

I am new to crafting with Modpodge, but I love it so far. I have so many things I want to do with it now. This moose is the 1st thing I made with it. I used it with tissue, over my clay sculpture to give it a hard, protective surface. Now I am hooked on it.

Be creative

Product is fantastic! I was already shipping items from walmart and didn't think about how this would ship. It was shipped in a bigger bag with no extra bubble wrap besides the thin layer on the inside of the bag. Thankfully it shipped before my other items so it came alone. If there was less room for it to move around in the bag it probably would have turned out better.

I love the thickness so it doesn't drip yet the smoothness so it spreads over a large area. Dries clear, no bad odor. Many uses. Professional recommendations and several different formulas for every project. The one product I trust and would not try to make my own cheaper. It's worth the price when the end product is worth the effort and cost to do it right. Have been using this for years. So much better than school glue which has it's place and also a million uses. I put products to the test and the crafts I make are always more fun withe the correct products and tools...

THE BEST...

Great stuff!  I use it to glue jigsaw puzzles together, that I want to cover with glass and hang as a picture!  It goes on white, but dries clear, so it is easy to see if you've covered all of the surface area of the puzzle!

currently working on a project with crushed glass and mod podge holds everything in place. i ordered the large and walmart seems to have the best price around. i recommend this product to family and friends.

They shipped this in an envelope so it leaked all over. Shipping was delayed. By the time I got it, it was squished and was oozing glue. I have no choice but to use it since I'm already late on the project because the glue was delayed. It was kept at a facility longer than it should have for "security" reasons. I assume it was because it smelled like chemicals. 

Of course not only did it waste product but the glue is now chunky which means it's going to be a nightmare trying to get it nice and even on my project. Super irritated, but I have no choice but to suck it up.

Poorly packaged, squished and leaked everywhere.
