The top shelf feature seems great, but can it be removed if it's not needed? From the pic, it looks like it's attached by a separate pole on the backend. I'm guessing I could just not add that, but wanted to ask for those who have one in their home already. TY

    • You don't have to put the top shelf on i guess. The two metal holders attached midway to the main metal frame. I guess you don't have to put them on if you don't want them.

    • My guess after putting the desk together, you could just leave the printer shelf off.

    • each of The sides are all one piece. Guess you could leave the top shelf off but the metal side brackets for the top shelf is not removable unless you modify them by cutting them down. I actually love that top shelf but had to modify it to hold a larger all in one printer. I added a long Belkin surge protector on the metal bar to accomidate all plug ins for my laptop including a second monitor.

I have a traditional computer and not the small one as shown. Does a normal tower fit under here with the shelf?

    • I was able to put my Dell Dimension E521 tower on the bottom shelf and was able to fit also a small HP laserjet printer next to it.

    • I have a 28" monitor the top of which is 20" from the desk surface. It did not fit beneath the top shelf. You're looking at about 18" max for monitor height.

    • This was my problem as well... my husband came up with a fix!!! Add spacers between the printer shelf and the rails, and get longer bolts to accomodate the extra length. Mine works perfectly!! See photos! I also repositioned the safety rail for the printer to the underside of the shelf so my monitor would not tilt back and fall off.
