Works well and a good value

Bought this for my car with 105,000 miles on it. I like that it comes in 5 qt jug as most cars nowadays seem to need at least that much. Pricing brings the cost per quart down to about $5 per quart - much more reasonable than $9 per quart when buying by the quart.

Best oil for high mileage engines

I started using this oil in my Grand Prix with over 200,000 miles and it has never ran better. It started burning 10w-30 faster than I like, but switching to this 10w-40 significantly reduced consumption. I fully expect to be able to squeeze another 50,000 miles out of this engine using this oil.

I have been using MOBIL 1 Synthetic oil for many years. MOBIL 1 was the first fully synthetic oil on the general market for cars & trucks, However AMSOIL hit the privet sector a few years before. For many years I was a traveling contractor, and would put 70,000+ miles a year on my trucks trading them in after the speedo went around 2-times, and never had an engine die out on me, My wife's commuter car is a Ford Escort with 196,000 miles on it, it doesn't burn, leak, or smoke, and it stills get 37 MPG.... I will never stop using MOBIL 1 oil.

    • Yes you could, but why? I would not. For one I don't think there is any new car calling for 10w40 anymore. Tooooo thick for a tightly built new engine.. Another is you don't need the high mileage additives like seal swellers. I recommend you use regular Mobil 1 at the manufacturer specified viscosity. Then at 150k or so maybe that will be time, the seals will have dried out, shrunk, maybe leaking a little by then.

    • Remember always check you manufacture to ensure that this is the correct oil viscosity. but yes Mobil 1 will work perfect in your new car indeed. note: every time you change oil make sure to add Mobil 1 filter too.

    • You should use Mobil 1 in the gold container in a new vehicle.

    • It will, but I don't think you'd want to use it on a new car. High Mileage formulation swells the seals in the engine. Your seals are probably perfect as they are. Plus, the seals in new cars are significantly less likely to shrink and crack in new cars than they were in cars that are 20+ years old. Why chance it? Go with just the regular Mobile1, your engine will thank you.
