The best way to buy this synthetic oil ....

My German car takes this somewhat difficult to find 0w-40 weight synthetic oil, and most shops only sell it in 1 quart bottles. As it needs 8.5 quarts for an oil change, that adds up to a lot of wasted plastic and unnecessary expense. These 5 quart jugs are a far more sensible way to purchase it, and WalMart has about the best price I've seen on them too. (I just compared prices with an area K-Mart store and they were almost $10 a jug higher.)

Mobil 1 is a high quality oil, and buying the 5 qt jugs at Walmart is the most economical route you can go!

    • The highest i would recommend is 0w-30 and thats because the 20, 30, 40 part of the oil concentrates on the high temp of the engine and what i know about hondas they dont really run that hot unless theres tuning and mods done to the car or you are driving the car really aggressively.

    • Using the recommended oil as mentioned in the owners manual is always best for the vehicle.

    • Not knowing this vehicle and the reason the makers recommend a small SAE. range is puzzling?Mobil 1 0-40 gives you a choice of how you would be able to drive your vehicle. The harder you drive any vehicle will require a greater SAE. range.Oil is required for lubricity.when it gets hot and breaks down it looses it's lubrication properties.Synthetics do not break down as quickly as mineral oils.If you drive hard and get your vehicle really hot,go with Mobile 1 .0-40

    • Follow your manual , there is a vast difference between 0w20 and 0w40 , enough difference to cost you an engine .

    • I would stick with the 0w-20, but use a fully synthetic oil for a lot of good reasons. The benefits with a wider range are usually engine specific: high vs low max rpm's, ditto for hp and torque, turbo, ohc's, etc. The synthetic oil performance at the recommended weight will far outweigh any small value changing to a broader range and in some cases might void the warranty, although hard to prove.
