Customer Product Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5★ by 28reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5★ by it's not windows anymore! I've been using computers since DOS so I'm very familiar with them, however this OS has done awayWith everything you knew about windows. Stick to windows 7. 02/25/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Installation was a nightmare!!! After 9 hours and 3 phone calls to Microsoft it finally worked!! Just little disappointed being my laptop is almost 2 years old and is kept updated. Now that it is working, I really like the new look and the apps. This would really be cool with a touch screen computer (maybe on my next purchase)! Definitely a big change from Windows 7! 11/25/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by No Added Value No perceived added value over Win 7. Too much additional clicking to do ordinary movement. Startup is not faster. Check your PC compatibility before you buy. I had to replace some with no added benefit. I wish there was a "zero" rating. 02/18/2013
Rated 2 out of 5★ by W-8 not worth it After 5 weeks "trying to use/learn" my new computer's W-8, I gave up and paid $250 to have it "downgraded" to Windows 7 ... love W-7, hate W-8. #$250 incl. $120 for new W-7#Have used PC's for 30 yrs, via ALL MS Windows products. It never took longer than a week to learn the software. What I did learn on W-8 mostly just slowed me down as I navigated around.Other than ease of use for those who have apps on their phones, pads, etc., I see no real value here. For "personal" use, get W-7 if you can, and wait for a better MS Windows product. 02/18/2013
Rated 2 out of 5★ by Horrible to get activated!! Could not get activated over internet...after almost two hours on phone with tech support I decided to take a friends advise and format and reinstall and activate over phone which means unhook your Ethernet cable so it wont automatically want to activate over internet...after all that got activated first try!!! Microsoft needs to hire some folks who wrote the software to man the tech support!!! other than that all is finally good!! 12/09/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Not worth the upgrade very glitchy! This is a poor attempt from Microsoft, they took what has worked for many years and made it very inconvenient for us pc users. Sure it has touch screen support, but so does android! (android does a lot better job) If Microsoft wanted to use there os for a tablet or phone that's fine but don't make us non touch screen pc users suffer with this poor product. Metro looks like it was put together by high school kids for a week project, is anyone even trying anymore??? don't buy this! 02/14/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by wrong product Nothing on the Web site told me i had to already have Windows installed. I wanted to install it on a Mac. 01/17/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Works Smoothly But Be Aware Of Glitches Works very smoothly without the hangups of Windows 7 and especially Windows 6 (Vista). It is as good as Windows XP (Windows 5). It does have several annoying glitches that you should be aware of. Yahoo Mail will not work with Win8/IE10. You have to use the old version of Yahoo Mail until either Yahoo or Microsoft fixes this. Why don't they fix it immediately? The next glitch is it takes several steps to shutdown Win8. However computer nerds have found a workaround so that you can shut it down in one click of the mouse and you can find this by searching on internet. Another glitch is it takes several steps to get to your desktop, because Win8 was designed with tables/smartphones in mind. Nerds have found a workaround that reduces the number of steps but unfortunately adds another step in that it goes to desktop but with My Computer/Windows Explorer open so you have to waste a step closing that down. I don't recommend using that workaround for that reason. Another glitch with Win8/IE10 is when you "Open in new Window" and size it to the size you want, it won't stay there when you re-open it again and you have to resize it again. If you do an internet search for this problem, there are 100s of nerds offering solutions on how to get around this but none of them work even though they sound like they know what they are talking about. The only thing that works is you have to go to taskbar manager and click properties and then click never hide labels. Anyway smooth operating system that won't lock-up like 6 and 7, but be aware of these glitches. 01/03/2013
