Use 500 grit sandpaper until your headlights are frosty white from the sand paper scratching. Then switch to a 800 grit and sand until the 500 grit scratches are finer. Then switch to a thick sponge and some water, moving in circular motion, until most of the cloudiness disappears. Then use a regular kitch sponge with this Mcquiar's plastic x polisher. Rub in circular motions covering the whole headlight, don't let the sponge go dry. With a little effort and time, you can make your headlight lenses look new again with items as simple as those I've mentioned.

I love this product! Much less expensive than others I have tried. I discovered it while trying to find a less expensive alternative for a clear plexi-glass motorcycle windshield that would develop swirls and scratches when cleaned. Yes, it works better with an orbital polisher but does fine with elbow grease. I know I use it for things that are not it's intended use but I have found it to be an excellent glass stove top polisher, a fantastic product for removing mineral build up and spots on car windows without leaving streaks and provides long long lasting water beading and perfectly clear spotless glass even after many washings. Just thought I'd throw the other uses in because it works very well for me. A little bit goes a long ways but after two years I'm running low and going to buy more tomorrow.

This is just the bottle, is their a rag I should purchase with this product? Do you suggest a rag?

    • I use a microfiber towel when using by hand. When using an electric polisher I also use a microfiber pad.

    • Any rag or paper towel works. Does clear up yellow haze, but it will return within a month or two.

    • Any clean and soft soft cotton cloth you do the trick but first clean the surface with a clean wet cloth. Use water to wet the rag then wipe the surface dry and apply the contents from the bottle over the headlight/lamp and follow the directions on the bottle itself.

    • You can use a terry cloth towel or as I prefer a sponge like you might find in the kitchen. Don't use too much polishing compound as it will sling everywhere, but don't let it go dry either.

    • Others have suggested an optional buffing wheel you attach to a drill, which will require taping off areas surrounding the lens to protect them from damage. I used non-abrasive dish scrubber and alot of manual labor. After cleaning, I wiped with a micro fiber towel to remove residue.

    • This really requires the buffing wheel that comes in the restoration kit. After masking off the area around the light, it normally takes just a few minutes per light. Results are amazing. You won't believe how much light you get! This is more of a refill bottle.

Does it really work? Reason I ask is becasue there are a lot of kits that are 3 times the prices of this product and I am not a self caar washing persons, and I know that it cost $20-$40 to have my headlights cleared of the yellowing. So I want to get this product because I can afford it. But hope I will not regret it.

    • I used it yesterday on my antique instrument panel that was impossible to see thru as it was severely yellowed and scratched. I kept working on it for 30 minutes and You should see how clear it is now. I can read fine print thru it as it now looks like crystal clear glass. Totally worth the 6 bucks

    • Will work and make clear for about a month. It will definately yellow again! Better than spending $200 a lense though. 5 minutes of rubbing each month.

    • The package as shown comes with the Plast-X solution only. There may be a buffing wheel with another, more expensive package. Does it really work ? I had better luck with Crest Pro Health toothpaste, non abrasive dish scrubber and alot of rubbing. I didn't use any optional buffing wheel. Results were not 100 %, but a definite improvement

    • YES! It really does work. If your headlights are typical, it will take less than 15 minutes. Be sure to use the Meguiar's buffing wheel that comes with the kit. Remember to mask off the area around the light so you don't affect paint and chrome. I enjoy this so much, I polish out neighbor's and friend's lights.
