Used to use a raised toilet seat - not anymore!

I used a 6"-8" raised toilet seat that "sat" on top of the toilet (with the normal seat and lid detatched) for many years. Recently we remodeled our bathroom and purchased a new toilet. Not wanting my old "icky" seat on it, I searched around on the web and ended up purchasing these safety rails. They are wonderful! Having MS and nearly no balance, this offers me the stability and support I need. Getting up or down, this works!!! Lightweight, yet sturdy; attaches easily and the toilet seat and lid stay on. It adjusts to be wider, if you need it. I highly recommend these rails.

Works great, was easy to install and is very helpful for my husband after surgery. The only drawback is we wish the arms could be adjusted a bit lower - but it works well for what we paid for it. Convenient to clean around and sturdy.

After shopping around, we purchased this for my mom, in her 80s. Now I'm wondering why I didn't have one of these sooner. The width has 2 settings and the height has about 5 settings. Adjusting it is as simple as pushing in the metal button, lowering or extending the pole until the button reaches the next hole. It attaches to the toilet by removing the entire toilet seat lid, placing this product over the holes, and then putting the lid screws through the product and re-installing the lid as usual. I like this model because having the legs on the floor gives it more sturdiness than the kind that just hang in mid-air. there can be a little movement of these rails if the washer inside the pole is not sitting correctly, but is otherwise pretty sturdy. I will provide photos later on.

My mom is handicapped and needs toilet rail to help her go to restroom. She is not tall and I have tried and measured what the dimension she needs. When Medline Toilet Safety Rails came up in Walmart website, I was pleased to see the height at 24" to 29". 24' is exactly what she wants. When I received item, it says 28" to 33". And sure enough, it is too high for her. While it is not helpful to point fingers, I hope Walmart or Medline can make sure the dimension is correct before put it up for sale, otherwise it is a waste of time and gas for customers to run around for an incorrectly described item.

  • A. It uses the same "bolt pattern" that the toilet seat uses. It is height adjustable and should fit any conventional toilet.

  • A. it is designed to install between the toilet seat and the toilet. It will fit nicely on all regular toilets, both round and oblong. The toilet seat bolts go through the handrail and the toilet bowl, so unless you have some odd sized custom-made toilet, it should fit nicely.

  • A. It attaches to the holes in the back of the toilet where you attach the toilet seat... using the same holes. I'm guessing those are a standard size as you can buy any toilet seat and attach it... so this would line up with those same holes.

what keeps person from toppling forward
by di 3/28/2014

  • A. It mounts in the area where your toilet seat lid mounts. There is no rail that goes across the front if that is what you need, it just gives support to help sit or raise up.

  • A. You need to undo the bolts (usually plastic) that hold the seat to the toilet, put the horizontal bar of the Rails on the toilet, and the put the bolts back in place. It is secured to the toilet that way. If person is unable to sit upright, it might be a problem, but the rail would not come off.
