VCR Head Cleaner

Fine basic head cleaner that does not use a liquid. Maxell states that it can be used up to 100 times. Plays a left right channel test while cleaning. As far as I can tell, it works fine at cleaning the heads.

I had a VCR that was dirty from an old tape, when I used the head cleaner it cleared lines in the video signal right up.

this item is hard to find due to everything going blue-ray these days. but if you still have some old VHS tapes that you like to view and the VCR is a little cloudy, this will clear it up.

Did Not Work!!

I have bought the Maxell Dry Video Head Cleaner in the past and loved it. Even lasted well past the 100 uses. My last one (that I had for years upon years) finally was getting overworked so I look to see if they still made them. I was glad to find they did, but concerned that the packaging was not the same and the reviews were so terrible. Decided to go ahead and try anyway. I didn't have to use it for a while (hence the reason I was unable to return# but when I did, it did the same as the most other reviewers. It would not play at all, sounded like a screeching noise #like it could not be played#, and then turned off my VCR!! It cleaned nothing, did not work #I tried it a few more times just to make sure and am grateful it did not ruin my VCR#, and had to throw it away!! Try to find a different solution! This is not like the great Maxell Cleaner we were used to in the past! Apparently quality if no longer a concern if it is for VCR's! :# I wish I would have spent my money more wisely!! I don't know why but this review is putting # symbols in place of most of my parenthesis.

  • A. Since the process requires the tape to run through the heads, NO. Your machine will eat this cleaner tape as well.

  • A. It should be used to prevent this but since it is already happening, my suggestion is to use this tape repeatedly to try and clean it good before you play another tape. And if you have a rewinder, use that and not the player to rewind your tapes. This will help too.

  • A. A dry head lleaner will not solve the problem of a video deck "eating" tapes. This is usually caused by a machine that is badly out of alignment or has a broken video head. It can also be caused by a damaged videocassette, that can in turn damage your video deck. WillSRQ

  • A. if your VCR is eating tapes, I would not recommend this product, as this product is kind of tricky to use, it may eat the tape that the cleaner cart. uses. the product is easy to use if you do not have a problem with your VCR, just that if your machine eats tapes, it might eat the cleaner tape, too.

  • A. HI I DOUBT it, they only thing to do is TRY it, as the cost is cheap enough...Its probably time to find another VCR if you can find one perhaps on line sights Wallmart, Amazon, Ebay. Its been my experience that trying to have Vcr repaired is NOT worth the Money or searching for someone who repairs them! GOOD LUCK..if YOU FIND A NEW VCR BETTER BUY AN EXTRA AS THEY ARE GETTING HARDER & HARDER TO FIND new!!!

  • A. dear frank,i do not think so.if your vcr is eating up your tapes,i think you need a new vcr player.you can buy a new vcr/dvd combo at walmart for $80.00.you need to use the cleaner after every 30 showings.frequently used tapes can also cause problem.again i do not think cleaner will work when vcr eats up tape.will eat up cleaner tape also.

  • A. As far as I know it is only meant to clean the heads on your VCR when your tapes are blurry or streaky. It worked good for that.
