Nice light and easy to change the combo

To all of you who can't figure out how to change the combination: 1) Set to 0000 2) Using a small pin (screw driver, etc), press the reset button on the back until it goes all the way in, and keep it pressed 3) Set the new combination 4) Release the reset button 5) Press the release button on the side. To be fair, the instruction is not clear, and pressing the reset button with one's finger is not enough as it needs to go in deeper. I had a few tries before I realized the reset button needed to go in deeper. I took off one star because I received one with a missing screw on the bracket (for the cable-side) and it would be inconvenient for me to return it. If I use the bracket without that tightening screw, I'm sure the cable lock would fall off during a bumpy ride. I think I can find a replacement screw but that's a real hassle.

I like this lock. It has a good thick cable and a stout lock. Perhaps the very best feature of this lock is the LED light that you can push so the numbers light up. My eyes aren't that good anyway and the light helps me see the numbers even in the daytime (and the night too, of course). Being able to set your own combination on bicycle locks these days is an absolutely fantastic feature. This lock does have that feature, but the instructions are not really clear and it is not quiet as easy to set as some other locks. However, with some trial and error, you eventually figure it out. Keep notes as you fumble through the set-up just in case you set the combination by mistake in the process. Once you figure it out, though, you will wonder why it seemed so confusing. Anyway, the light is great. The lock is good. The self-set combination feature is a must. I bought two of these locks. Note that the nuts for the mounting screws are not tight and every shipment I received so far, the nuts were loose, fallen out of the package, and were rattling around in the box. I could not find them on one of the locks and had to provide my own nut and bolt for mounting the lock on the bike. The lock is a little bit odd shaped. It is not symmetrical like other locks as you can see from the photo. Thus, it is awkward to fit onto the bike frame where it won't interfere with riding. It is better to put it into a bike bag like a saddle or handlebar bag. I typically don't mount locks on the bike frame anyway, so this is not a big deal. Overall, an excellent value.

I rarely ever write reviews but felt the need to write it for this one in order to avoid anybody making the same mistake. I bought this lock and used it for the first time. To begin with, the LED light didnt even light up and Guess what? My $450 bike was stolen within 1 hour! In broad daylight (2:30pm). It mustve been that easy. My opinion: Dont bother. Invest in something stronger and more durable. Thinking I would get a good deal, I ended up getting my bike stolen, my lock and any work I had done on it. Pretty much close to $600.00 and now I have to spend close to that to replace everything.

I first noticed the reviews from NY that say their bike was stolen quickly with this lock. WELL, Its not the lock, its where you live. If I had a 600 dollar bike in NY i would buy a krypto but even those are easy to break. My kids live in a rural area and this lock is perfect. The combo was a bit of a challenge, but ypu have to make sure the combo is on 0000 first and then I used a nail in a board to make sure the combo pin was pressed ALL THE WAY IN and the combo changed easy. So if you live in a low crime area and need basic security, buy this lock. The LED is great at dusk. If you live in NY, buy an armed guard. LOL

the very first time i went biking with this lock, it got lost - the small screw in the plastic connector that attaches the lock to the bike frame when not in use worked itself loose, and it fell off without me noticing. however, a friend had the same lock, and thought it a good value - especially the light feature, which came in handy at night. my suggestion: if you buy the lock, don't mount it to the bike frame. wrap it around and lock it to the frame when you're not using it.
