Fantastic Coffee at a Fantastic Price!
    2/9/2014

    Customer review by MorningJolt

    5.0 stars by MorningJolt

I have been buying Martinson coffee for almost 50 years! It is a tri-state (NY,NJ,PA) commodity that cannot be found in grocery stores outside that area. I have relied on trips back to NJ to stock up, whether I lived in Virginia or New Mexico. I did find the distributing outlet that shipped cases to me in NM, but it was very expensive both for the coffee and shipping. Relocating to Texas left me in the same predicament--either go back East or succumb to the ever-escalating cost with the shipping process. Searching on the Internet once again, I came across Wal-Mart's offering: a fantastically better price per container and no shipping charges! Thank you Wal-Mart. Please keep this option.

Had this coffee in a local restaurant and it was so good I had to track some down. Excellent flavor and very smooth. No bitterness at all. HIGHLY Recommend this one !

Best Ground Coffee for the Money

Very pleased to find this coffee brand in the large size offered by Walmart on line as it's not available in many parts of the country. In our opinion, Martinson's is the best tasting coffee on the market beating out brands that cost twice and three times as much. Walmart pricing along with the free shipping, (purchase minimum), made this one of the better shopping deals of the year. (And I rarely, if ever, submit product reviews).

    • It should be about 1 scoop per 2 cups of coffee.

    • DEPENDING HOW YOU BREW YOUR COFFEE? I USE A FARBERWARE ELECTRIC COFFEE POT. ONE SCOOP OF GRINDS FOR EVERY TWO CUPS OF COFFEE IS A GOOD STARTING POINT. MIGHT BE STRONG FOR SOME. I LIKE A FULL BODIED CUP OF COFFEE !!!!! VERY PARTICULAR !!!!! THE K-CUP MACHINES DON'T WORK RIGHT.

    • The amount of coffee one uses in a cup depends on your personal taste, the fineness of the grind and the method of brewing. Also, in my opinion, it matters whether you use paper or fine metal filtration, and whether the filter shape is flat or cone. A coffee measure, typical, is about 2 tablespoons. I currently use a measure per 2 cups, when I grind my own coffee fine, and use a metal cone filter in a drip Brewer. When I was younger I liked my coffee weaker and would use as little as three measures for 10 six ounce cups. For espresso, one uses about a coffee measure per ounce or two of brewed coffee (up to 4 ounces) while for Turkish style coffee one uses even more coffee. For French Press I like 6-7 measures per 10 cups. For cold brewed coffee I use one measure per cup. If I wanted a suggestion for where to start I would look for the manual that came with your coffee maker, not on the package of coffee. The maker should be designed for a particular grind and amount of coffee when producing a particular standard cup desired by the manufacturer. But that is just a starting point.
