Love this Salad and would eat it everyday if it was available. Not available in store most days. This seems to be very popular, could we have more stocked? Thanks

In my neck of the woods this is called "Southwest Chopped Salad" (UPC: 81131 00706) which includes Romaine lettuce and Green Cabbage, Green onion tossed with three cheeses and seasoned Tri-colored tortilla strips, red pepper, and jalapeno. This is an outstanding mix along with "Chipotle Ranch Dressing" (Marketside brand). Someone has asked in this review if they were able to purchase this dressing seperately? I was able to. If your Wal-Mart grocer does not have it, ask them to. Available as "Chipotle Ranch Dip" (Marketside) The UPC is: 81131 38837. Please WalMart, bring this to more stores so many-more can enjoy it.

Well, I have been losing weight ...lost over 100 pounds in the last five yrs...trying to keep healthy and lose more...by picking up this salad I thought I was staying on track, but if you notice, it's FIVE SERVINGS, so if you eat the whole thing that's 650 calories or half is 325, which is a LOT for a salad! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME CONVENIENT HEALTHY OPTIONS THAT ARE ACTUALLY FILLING IN THE DELI AREA SO THAT I CAN PICK SOMETHING UP ON MY LUNCH BREAK FROM THE SCHOOL. SOMETHING WITH FIBER, PROTEIN, AND A SMALL AMT OF FAT. THANK YOU!

I lovvvve this salad & have been buying it all the time over the last couple years. It's so delicious & has a nice spicy kick to it. This is my go to healthy food when I'm craving something spicy. I never realized how many calories were in it until today. Out of curiosity I flipped it over & read the nutritional facts & discovered this salad contains a whopping 650 calories =O ..the back of the package says the serving size is 1 cup of salad with 1.5 Tbsp dressing is 130 calories & has 5 servings per container.. Wtf! I thought I was being healthy. ughhh now I have to do more squats & lunges.. Booooo

I'm with the rest of the reviewers who love this salad and who ends up disappointed more than half the time because it's out of stock. I always ask the deli counter staff because sometimes they have more in back. The bagged version will do in a pinch but doesn't have the salsa or chicken. The salsa is very tasty and adds a nice piquancy. The chicken is hit or miss and I sometimes end up throwing some of it out if it's too gristly. For people who are concerned about calories, my local store has a smaller version of this, also pre-packaged. I didn't realize the Marketside dressing and salsa were available separately, so thanks for the tip!

I don't possible see how the calories for this salad can be 190, it must be more like 290 or 390. The dressing alone is probably 190, then add cheese, fried tortilla strips and chicken. Please review, being a diabetic this is very important.

    • A. You are correct....too tasty to be so low calorie. The nutritional information is a little deceptive because most people assume the salad to be a single serving but it actually is FIVE servings. A single serving is 130 calories so, if you eat the entire salad, it is 650. If you are trying to watch the calorie count and glycemic index, you may want to consider leaving out the dressing and crisps altogether and adding in a little more grilled chicken breast. Or maybe skip the cheese or replace with low-fat. For me, the dressing and crisps make the salad what it is but you could make a homemade version with the greens, red bell peppers, grilled or rotiserried chicken (with southwest flavors) and the pico de gallo......no fat and lots of flavor. Hope this helps.

    • A. On the bottom of the container it states there are 5 servings in each package, that is why it is 190 calories (which means It would be 650 calories per package.) But that is incorrect as well. Stated below is the correct Nutritional Facts for this product from my findings. Yes the Nutritional Facts are inaccurate on the "Marketside Southwest Salad, 17.75 oz. from Walmart." If you take a part the product itself and weigh them you will be able to see it is nowhere near the calories stated, and that's just what I did. These are my findings and they are pretty exact: ___________________________________________________________________ 9.5oz (269.32g) Mix Salad (Iceberg Lettuce, carrots, red cabbage, etc.) 46.9 Calories, 46.9mg Sodium, 3.1g Fiber, 6.2g Sugar, 3.1g Protein 2.7oz Chicken Breast (skinless/boneless)/with Rib Meat, 73.3 Calories, 120mg Sodium, 43.3mg Cholesterol, 1.7g Fat, 166.7mg Potassium, 15.3g Protein. 1.2oz (21/4 Tbsp) Pico De Gallo - Fresh (tomato. onion, Cilantro, etc.) (Marketside), 5.6 Calories, 11.2mg Sodium. 1oz (1/8 cup) Mexican Style 3-cheese blend Shredded, 55 Calories, 85mg Sodium, 12.5mg Cholesterol, 4.5g Fat, 3g Protein. 1.5oz (1 bag) Fried Tortilla Strips, 129 Calories, 13mg Sodium, 3.0g Fat, 3.0g Protein, 22.0g Total Carbs, 1.0g Fiber. 2 Tbsp (30g) Chipotle Ranch Dressing (Marketside), 90 Calories, 190mg Sodium, 5mg Cholesterol, 9g Fat, 25mg Potassium, 1g Protein, 1.0g sugar, 2g Total Carbs, _____________________________________________________________________ All totals (everything in package): 400 Calories, 27g Total Carbs,, 19g Fat, 25g Protein. What are the nutrition facts without the salad dressing and the fried tortilla chips? How many servings are in the entire container without these ingredients?
    by Aestheticz 7/6/2012
    3 answers
    • A. According to the nutritional information, fat accounts for approximately 70% of the calorie count. So if you had the entire salad without the dressing and chips, it would be about 225-250 calories if you still left the cheese and chicken. If you skipped the cheese, it would probably be about 175 because its not a lot of chicken and the greens and pico de gallo have no fat.

Hope this helps. :) I have stated more details to my findings in another post if anyone is interested.
