My 150pound, 14 yr old sleeps on the top bunk and my 4yr old sleeps on the bottom bunk and I don't have any concerns about the top bunk falling down or breaking! 12/17/2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by TaMike CAN'T GO WRONG !!! This is our second purchase of these bunkbeds. We bought the first set about 3 years ago, for our then 4 yr old twin boys. The first set we bought were the honey color, nice, but easily showed abuse by the boys. We took the beds apart when we moved to a three bedroom home, and put each boy in there own room. We lost the pieces to the ladder and top bunk guard, or we would still have them. We looked around at bunk beds when we made another move, so we could accomodate the boys in the same bedroom. After looking for several weeks, we kept coming back to the same bunk beds by Mainstays (Walmart), but really wanted darker wood. We looked online and Viola!!! there they were!! Wow, what a saving grace. Awesome color, rich in appearance and solid wood. Takes about an hour and a half with a cordless drill and an occassional helping hand. The boys are 7 now, so they had a blast helping us put their new beds together. The ladder is perfect. Takes up no extra floor room, is slightly lower than the botton bunk board allowing your child to safley get a firm hold on the first step. These beds ar SOLID!! They look great, If you have boys that are ALL BOY, they will not tear these beds up. The battle scars they will get will be easier to cover up with the darker wood. We highly recommend this product. We used Site to Store and the beds came in about a week after ordering. 07/02/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by mommy2jag great value! My husband was very weary of buying bunk beds from Walmart, he was terrified they would collapse on our boys. I took him to the store to look at the sample. He saw that they were made from real wood he agreed to buy the beds. They were fairly easy to put together and they look wonderful. The color is beautiful. Our sons ages 7 and 2, have been sleeping in their new beds for about 6 months and the beds are holding up very well. 01/16/2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by viperman100 great value Purchased this bed after looking for a good used set on classified adds and finding everything just as expensive and even more than this unit. I didnt want to purchase a store bought unit because I expected it to be cheaply made and not durable, because I am a cabinet maker and know wood working I figuered on making one myself, which I could have done so easily but just didnt have the time. Long story short I finally broke down and bought this set and it completly impressed me right off the bat. Dado joints add to the strength of the construction it is very well built and was easy to assemble ( less than an hour using my power drills of coarse). And it is very sturdy due to the good quality of the bolts and many dowels at each joint. the only downside if any would be that the screw heads remain exposed (I dont mind this but some might), and also the planks that the mattress sit on are thin and could most likley not hold and average adult but it is intended to be a child bed so thats ok, either way if you replace them with something more sturdy it can easily handle a grown man and then some. 07/26/2009
