NO they cant be used outdoors for long periods of time. They do have wax around the plastic candle.

The wax is very much wax! I turned one of mine completely upside down and smashed the wax a tad on the top of one of them. Yikes! It still holds its shape but has a small crack in it now. I live in the Northwest and it is summer here. I use mine exclusively outdoors. The heat (80's) hasn't affected them in the least. I would not, personally, use them in the rain. The battery compartment on the bottom does not have a rubber seal to keep water out thus my inclination to only use them in dry settings. Mine are under a covered patio and even when it does rain (yes, the Northwest gets rain in the summer too!) they are not affected by the moisture in the air. Hope that helps!

They eventually will melt. I put aluminum foil around the bottom to keep rain out. The batteries on the 5 hour option last about 3 months or 90 days...on occasion a little longer. I have 40 black lanterns that I have hung in the trees on my property....several acres. Have had nothing but compliments from day one. This is my sixth year of using some version of these candles. This brand seems to be the sturdiest.

There's no remote control, but you can turn the switch to TIMER and I think they stay on like 5hrs....or you can just turn switch to just ON. They flicker just enough to make it appear as a real candle. To make sure I answered your question....there are three settings: OFF, ON, or TIMER

Their flickering is extremely subtle! You need to stop and stare at it to really be aware of the flicker. I know some candles can have an annoying false flicker but these are very nice.

no remote control comes with these candles. The flicker is constant but extremely subtle. There isn't a way to go between constant on and flicker. They do not have that annoying false flicker effect. They are so subtle that you would have to stare at the candle to notice it was flickering.

I've had these for about 2 weeks now. I am using them outside under a covered patio. I just LOVE them! They have a 5 hour timer that I use every evening. They automatically go on at 7pm and go off at midnight. They have a soft flicker appearance. Their glow is realistic. I have them in adorable glass hurricanes and it is so nice this summer not to be cleaning off soot from the glass every couple of days! I thoroughly enjoy these automatic candles!

Lovely vanilla scented wax flameless candles!

Love these. They look just like a candle, feel like a candle (almost a waxy feel on the outside). The vanilla smell is wonderful, and there's no risk of fire. the light flickers just enough to make it appear as a real candle. I searched all over for a good deal on this type product, an this is the best deal by far.!! There's nothing I can say negative about these

I have lots of outdoor lanterns for my deck and porch for the summer, I had regular candles in them and it is such a pain to light them night and night, and remembering to make sure to blow them out.

I was looking for LED pillar candles that had a timer, and I came across these. I have had them about 2 weeks, and they are still going strong, I even have them in the sun during the day and none have melted since they are wax, that did shock me. The glow is bright enough to light up my porch with them all. And they actually look real.

The cost of these comes close to only $3 a candle, some places you cannot find them under $6-8 per candle. These are perfect. So good, I ordered 12 more. I can see me using them for every season, even in the pumpkins and Christmas decorations!

Perfect Candles and they have a timer

Rather than needing a set of flameless candles in graduated sizes, we needed six four-inch candles.  Purchasing them individually at local stores was prohibitively expensive, so I Googled '4" Flameless Candles.'  As Walmart was among the choices, I immediately chose their site and was delighted to find exactly what we needed. . .for $15 total, with no shipping cost as we could pick it up at our local 'Wally World!!'  I ordered the candles on a Friday evening, and the following Monday the email informing me they were ready for pick-up arrived.  Terrific service from that aspect and also when we actually went to Walmart for the candles.  An added, unexpected bonus is that the candles actually have a delightful scented candle aroma!

Flamless LED Candle Set

This product is great. Smells good, looks real just require 3 AAA batteries per candle. I needed 9 candles, wasn't expecting to purchase 27 batteries.

I especially like the self-timer. I put these in some outdoor lanterns around the pool and set the timers to light the candles at dusk. They automatically turn off a few hours later. Might have given 5 stars, but want to see how they hold up over time.

Look just as Shown

The candles themselves are what I expected. However, they didn't come with batteries. They took 3 AAA batteries. This made them more expensive than others I looked at the came with the batteries. Also 2 of them are defective so now I have to go through the hassle of replacing them.

Disappointed in my candle purchase

These candles are very nice, but when I entered a search for flameless candles I also said I wanted unscented. These are vanilla scented so I can't use them. My husband is allergic to scented items like this. I read the description again and no where obvious is there a notation they are scented. Disappointed.

Not unscented as I expected

I needed these candles for a community event so I looked at various sources online. I steered clear of the candles which were scented. Since these candles were not described as scented, I thought they were unscented. I was wrong! They have a heavy vanilla smell to them which I did not appreciate, especially on a dining table. Since my time was limited, I didn't return them. The overall quality is OK, but not great. They required 3 AAA batteries, instead of 2 AA.

Disappointed that the candles were scented

I wanted to use these flameless candles in some lanterns I have outside. I live in Oklahoma and the temps on average in the summer are 100+. These candles are WAX so if you want to leave the candles out days on end these are not the ones to buy. I bought the set of 6 in the two different size and they are both made with a nice wax on the outside. They would be lovely for an outside event but they would need to be removed the same day. I hope this review was helpful

would recommend but depends on the use!

The cost was good for the flameless candle, but the candle was not real looking.  the flame was too yellow and the flame color shinned down the full length of the candle - not just at the top where the flame was.  Very unrealistic.  sent back/not happy with.
