    Great product!

Far exceeded my expectations. When you read the reviews, and some of the problems people report, it makes you worry, and I was a little leery. But I wanted a cheap solution, so I bought two of them, about 2 weeks ago, for my grown daughter and two of her friends sharing a room in our home. They've loaded them up with shirts, slacks, etc, and I'm entirely pleased with the sturdiness and stability. A rack holds a lot of clothes, as much as a walk in closet. They're parked out of the way, by the wall, and we won't have any reason to move them around unless we rearrange the room, and then, they roll. They look great, too, black and chrome. Tool-free, snap-together assembly, and the connections are strong. But the instructions consist only of a parts list and an exploded diagram of the assembly, with nothing written, so you have to think your way through it. Re an earlier review, about their being nothing to retain the pop-out locks, to keep the top rack from sliding down: you have to align the (unnoticeable) little holes in the bottom standard with the popouts, but the instructions don't tell you. Lamentable and puzzling that the mfr wouldn't point out that little detail, to simplify the assembly and save themselves some bad reviews, because the product is so good. Otherwise, the assembly is simple. I don't usually write product reviews, but I'm really impressed that anyone could bring a rack of this quality to market for < $15, and it creates almost a feeling of obligation to pound the table for them. You don't often find something that is both good quality and cheap. I think it IS an exceptional value: easy to assemble, sturdy, attractive, and fully functional, so I give it WOW.

For the money this stand is decent. I have a couple of other ones that do not have the double hanging space and they are super flimsy and always about ready to tip over. Picked one of these up today. I have to say that I was impressed. It's sturdy, not ready to fall over and is holding a heck of a lot of clothes.

You just have to make sure you put it together correctly. I started putting it together from the top down and had to take it apart and start over from the bottom up. I bought this item to get control of my daughters clothes. After reading several of the poor rated reviews, I was nervous. But didn't have a lot of money to buy the more expensive ones. As of right now I have 32 t-shirts on the middle part of the upper rack. On the outsides of the top rack I have 4 pairs of jeans on one side and 4 dresses on the other end. The lower bar has 14 pairs of jean shorts, and 3 jackets on it(yes my daughter has too many clothes). This item is definitely worth the money. I'm going to get another one for my clothes.

I need a garment rack to travel to my in-home parties and showcase my lingerie. I need it to be able to collapse or be taken apart and put back together quickly. I also need it sturdy since many ladies will be messing with it.
    by an anonymous customer 5/3/2012
    • I have it to be very easy to assemble and I feel that it would be sturdy enough for lingerie as well.

    • It's not too hard to put together and take a part.

    • It is not sturdy. It can be partially taken apart but not easily. I used it at a yard sale and it tipped over onto those perusing the clothes. But light weight clothes should be fine.

    • Yes, it comes apart fairly easily. But do not know how well it would stand up to being taken apart and back together several times. You might be able to just remove the upper part, the rest should fit into the trunk of a car with ease. Also it can not be heavily loaded down with large or heavy items.

    • Hmm, I just purchased this rack. I love it but, I don't think you will be satified with what you are going to be using it for. If you have alot of weight on it, the base is not that sturdy to be shuffled or moved around without care and finesse.

    • Yes, at first I couldn't get it apart. I was afraid I would break it, but I just needed to use a little muscle and it came right apart.

    • I put it together easily by myself and it seems to be very sturdy. It doesn't "collapse," but you could easily take it apart and reassemble it as needed.

    • This garment rack is not sturdy

    • Yes. The first time I put it together took about 5 minutes, but I tore it down in 1. The second time I put it together, it only took a couple minutes.

    • I'm not sure about taking it completely apart, but the top part slides into the bottom part which would make it easy to fit into the backseat of a car. It was very easy and quick to put together. The joints are plastic so I'm not sure how long they would last if you keep taking them apart and putting them back together.

    • Not advised. The middle rail is helping support the product.
      by Jaamo10911/1/2012

    • I would say no, since the center rail helps to add stability to the unit.

    • There is another model that Walmart sells that is just one rack. To me it was much thinner metal. The extra rack gave it much more stability. The bars on this model is also thicker.

    • It is removable but it might not be stable enough to stand.
      by geeniao9/11/2012
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • I believe it will do this. However, it will not be as sturdy.
      by Jinuwinlady519/11/2012
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • I think that you don't have to put the middle rail on it but I think it makes it more stable. The top rack will still slide into the bottom rack.
      by KingSunshine5/14/2012
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • Yes it can be taken off, in fact there is a very similar and less expensive version of this that has that exact structure. It is much more wobbly without the middle bar but if you have dresses or longer clothes you will have to deal with that.
      by PosseSB2/28/2012

    • The middle bar can easily be removed though it would likely effect overall stability. It would probably sway a bit side to side if clothing is not evenly spaced.

Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • The bottom rail is there to help stability by controlling side to side swaying. However, for the same exact price, Wal-mart does sell another clothes rack, Whitmore Adjustable, that is specifically made to be stable without the supporting rail this one needs. I recommend going that route instead of using this one as it was not intended.

    • yes you can take it off you just have to not put on the black peices on it or you can keep them there and not put the bar in
