Rated 3 out of 5 by Aengus Not quite what I needed/expected The older expandable curtain/shower rods used to be "sprung" -- you would adjust them to a little wider than needed and then compress them (because they had a spring inside) so that they would hold up by tension. These new ones have no spring. You have to unlock them, spread them in the space needed, pushing as hard as you can, then twist to lock. Unfortunately that would not work for my specific purpose (using in my minivan to hold up a curtain for camping), but I would think in most applications it would be OK. Maybe not a strong enough grip for a shower curtain though -- I could see whipping the shower curtain open and accidentally pulling this rod down. 05/17/2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by AllMac Simple Product - would be nice if NOT DAMAGED unfortunately this is not the first thing I've bought from Mainstays thru Walmarts - Walmart lives up to their end but not Mainstay this time the rods came in with crumbled rubber tips, both of the 2 I ordered - didn't bother to return - needed them right away - and was able to find others that fit. Before that, there was a nice small roller-around kitchen cart - came with missing and wrong sized parts - again (as I don't throw anything out) found parts to substitute. I did call their customer service, they were out of stock no knowledge of when I would get them. If I remember, I got the replacement parts, wheel and bars, 4 months or more later. Surprise! they're still the wrong size. That's why I don't throw anything out. Not happy with Mainstay... LUV Walmart wish they would go back to selling only their own stock - farming out to these other companies is a big waste as far as I can see. I won't buy anything that doesn't come from Walmart - twice burned - now shy 05/06/2013
