    Nice product

I purchased this dresser for my daughter and it is a wonderful addition. I've learned that you cannot always go by what people say so I tried this one for myself as I did this 5 shelf bookcase I bought from Target and found that it wasn't as bad as people made these products out to be. First of all it was not hard to put together at all, I read the directions carefully. Secondly since I kept reading about the sticking drawers I did some research on wood lubricants and I also purchased some wood glue for the bottoms which cost me a whole dollar and some change. The lubricant which was a candle cost me 25 cents or you can use paraffin wax. I rubbed the candle in the grooves of the drawers to create a lubricant against the plastic railings and I used the wood glue to glue the bottoms of the drawers into their grooves so they would not move. All of this was done without fuss. The dresser itself is very sturdy. I did not have any missing parts nor any broken wood. This is rather a nice product for the money spent and can last a very long time if you know what to do and how to handle it. If you want to keep your drawers from sticking I suggest that you first make sure that your plastic railing that the drawers slide onto are screwed tightly in sides A&B because I ran into that issue. If that is done and it is still sticking then rub the wood with candle wax or you can buy "slip-it" sliding compound for wood lubrication. If your drawer bottoms are coming out, make sure they are fit well into the grooves and your drawers are put together correctly. Also, if you want a little extra security purchase some wood glue which is under 2 dollars and put it in the grooves before you put slide the drawer bottoms in. You can also put the wood glue on the adjoining pieces of wood if you like. Voila you have a nicely put together stable dresser. This is a good product, I would recommend it.

70lbs of dresser for $59.00? You're on! I got this dresser, and reading the previous reviews I also followed the suggestion of adding wood glue to the pieces for stability, and using candle wax to help 'lubricate' the drawer tracks. The finish/alder-look is actually decent. The drawer handles are plastic, but for the price, I can deal with it. If it bothers me too much, I'll go to Home Depot and pick up more attractive ones for $5. It took me approximately 1 1/2 hours to complete this, start to finish. I used a phillips head screwdriver, a hammer, a 25-cent votive candle, and wood glue. The instructions and drawings were clear. The drawer tracks are labeled "left" and "right", it's just engraved into the plastic and difficult to see. Also, I was impressed with the tv-dinner style plastic tray that the hardware came in, versus the annoying multiple little bags you typically get with assembly furniture. I will buy more from this set, I am quite pleased.

    Sticky drawers

    Customer review by nomorepopofflids

    4.0 stars by nomorepopofflids

Everything is great...except the drawers. they're a wonderful depth both ways, but their engineering was a little shortsighted. Instead of having meral tracks on the dresser and wheels on the drawer, there's a plastic track on the dresser into which you slide the drawer, which has cutouts on the sides. The rail is too thick, or the cutouts are too thin, either way, I'm not a dainty woman and it's a MAJOR hassle to get the drawers in or out. they should have put the rails under the drawers instead of inserting them; then everything would be fine. If you have a power drill (Therefore not needing the precut holes), I highly recommend doing so. The only other thing is the bottom of the drawers. The rest of the dresser is made of pressed wood, but the bottom of each drawer is made of cardboard. Go to Lowes and have some plywood cut, becase this isn't even good cardboard; it's like the stuff you use to make posters. I honestly don't think it will hold my 12 pairs of size 6 jeans more than a few days before it caves and I end up buying wood. BUT, overall, as cheap as this is, it's a better deal to buy it and some small upgrades than to get something more expensive if it's just temporary. No matter what, if you don't have a power drill, buy a metal file to wear down the plastic rails, or you will NOT get these drawers open. They're still working on the right size rails, I guess; maybe the second batch will come out better.

How much weight can this product hold on top? For example a TV set.

    • This product comes with a bracket thats part of the assembly that allows you to attach chest to the wall. Using this bracket , I would not put more than 60 to 70 pounds on the top. Without bracket chest may be top heavy and tip. Also cardboard back panel does not give chest much lateral strength without bracket. If you did'nt get bracket it is available at CUSTOMER.SERVICE@AMERIWOOD.COM

    • Try using a liquid body soap in the grove for the track!

    • Hi Ayushi- If the drawers are sticking I would suggest first of all you get a piece of "fine" sand paper and sand the part where the runners are going to slide into. This will get any burs or rough spots out. Then you can run a bar of soap down the drawer runners. Once you do both of those, put the drawers back in opening and closing them a few times to get them moving smoothly. I hope this helps but if not please remember you can call 1-800-489-3351 for assistance with your situation.

    • The track that the draw slides on may be loose and hanging up in the slot on the side of the draw. Or you can lubricate this slot by rubbing a bar of soap or a wax candle back and forth in the slot especially the edge that rides on the top of the track.

    • try changing the location of the drawer, sometimes they are assembled a bit bigger so try putting it in the middle of the dresser.

    • I would double-check to be sure all of the hardware is as tight as it can be on the stuck drawer or make sure the rest of the dresser is relatively square. Look from behind where you nailed the cardboard on, is there any part that doesn't meet up nicely with the edges of the dresser? A problem like that may cause the drawers to stick. Hopefully that helps...

    • If the drawer is hard to open and close first check to make sure all the screws are flush and not sticking up. If that is not the problem you can call their Consumer Service line at 1-800-489-3351 and they will be more than happy to troubleshoot the problem with you to correct the problem.

    • Are the little drawer stop pegs in the way? Try removing them, push the drawer all the way in and then put the stops back in. (Bad design in the first place). If the drawers themselves are hard to open and close, try rubbing candle wax in the grooves where they slide.

    • Something you can try is to sand the drawer sides where the drawer runners go into making them real smooth. Then run a bar of soap down the drawer runners. That should correct its self. If not you can call Consumer Service at 1-800-489-3351 and they will be more than happy to troubleshoot that for you. I hope this helps.

    • The drawers don't hold a lot, and if they do. I would be cautious because the top drawer that holds all of my daughter undergarments fell apart, The bottom end just gave out and now her clothes fall into the second drawer since the bottom is not there to hold it
