I was looking for an affordable solution for storage in our toy room (formerly known as the dining room). After looking a 6 - 8 cube bookcases for $50+ each - I stumbled across these bookcases. I love them because I can put fabric cube storage bins on these shelves and still have room for books, puzzles and games. I got signifcantly more storage and versitility for only $15 per bookshelf (plus the cost of the fabric bins - $6 each) I purchased 4. The first one took 30 minutes to put together, next 3 took about 10 minutes each. Properly assembled, these are sturdy - they don't wobble. Better pressboard than a similar one I bought at Target. The only thing I found during assembly is that some of the backs aren't cut true to square - but they still fit.

I bought one of these in black one year ago and I loved it. Then I decided to get another one (white) to use on guest room. It is very easy to put together. I like the fact that the shelves are adjustable. Considering the price, they look great! You can't beat $15 - so I would definitely recommend this bookcase.

I used 3 of these bookcases and built them in semi permanently into my daughters bedroom, they look wonderful. Easy to assemble and not too deep they didn't take up too much room either. They worked perfectly for this project, though standing alone they might be a little less sturdy, that is part of the reason i built them in, for more stability.

I bought two of these storage cases solely on the dimensions and price. The measurements were spot on and fit the space perfectly. They work really well as storage in this area and look good. Since they were going to be in my hubby’s workbench area I was happy they didn’t cost much. The items shipped site to store FOR FREE in about a week and a half and was packaged very well. I put both of them together in 1 hour (with the help of my 2 sons, 8 month old and 22 month old, taking parts away from me from time to time) so assembly was very easy despite my obstacles ;o) They seem very durable. For the price, you can’t beat it.

I am a teacher and wanted to get a little bookcase for my classroom to keep my textbooks and other books for class and since I didn't want to spend a lot of money this was the perfect option. As someone said before, the directions are def. vague so I had to figure some things out on my own, but once I got it together it looks great. I also decided to buy fabric and staple it to the cardboard backing to make it look even better!

Easy to assemble, attractive and versitile. I cannot believe I paid $20 for this! No, it's obviously not designer furniture, but it is functional and sturdy and goes well with my simple decor. I am using it to organize toys and it is perfect. Does not look cheap at all.

I use this shelf for my Infant's room and I love it. It holds a ton of diapers and wipes, formula, disposable changing pads, etc. It also came in a great color that matched her crib. Definitely a great buy for the price.

Was great to find this inexpensive, yet useful bookcase for my daughters' rooms. Had searched several places online yet only finding like items too expensive than what I needed. Looked here and saw most of it sold out/not available. Then searched a store near me and found several in stock and easily found on the shelf in the designated store. Didn't have to waste alot of gas looking for what we needed. Easy to put together and looks great with books and decor.

Bought this bookshelf to be used as a TV stand. At first I didn't but the back on, and it swayed from side to side, but I then put it on and cut a hole through it so that the cords from my DVR and DVD player could be accessible. This worked very well, and the bookshelf is extremely sturdy and looks fantastic. Normal delivery was also extremely fast. I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

The bookshelf is a very cheap product but it served my purpose to hold books for my classroom. You definitely get what you pay for. I bought two and when I put them back to back you can tell that they do not stand up straight, they are crooked and one of the backings was cut wrong so it is not flush to the back. It will be fine to use in my class but I would not purchase these for my own home or for anything sturdy.

You Have to READ the Instructions for FLAWLESS ASSEMBLY! There are NO WORDS, only Pictures, and that was frustrating to me! But it is worth it when you take your time and do it right! These are sturdy, unlike what a few reviews stated! There is a 'new type of screw' than what they used on these shelves ten years ago, and they have to be put in properly and they work great! I bought Four of these shelves, and it took me about 10 minutes to put each one together. I made a small nook in my child's special needs classroom. I bought a $17 rug, a lamp, and two big comfy chairs ... we surprised her with a 'Homey Reading Corner' before the school year starts this year ... I will post a pic as soon as I can! I Love Walmart .. I can do all of that for under $100!

For the price, it is a decent bookcase. The instructions are pretty vague so if you're not used to putting furniture together [like myself] you might need some help. Wobbly and kind of delicate so I wouldn't recommend moving it much [the backing is just a piece of cardboard], but it works if you need a simple bookcase. I think you'd be better off getting one of a little better quality for a little more money though.

After looking at the directions for about an hour and swearing up a storm, I was able to figure it out and put it together. The directions are in diagram form, nothing really written out. I thought they had forgotten to pack the back piece until I figured out that the piece of cardboard on my floor was the backing. It's folded up and opens up to form the backing. Oh, and btw, that's where the directions were hidden to. Well, it looks fine and really where else except maybe a garage sale or thrift store are you going to find a bookcase like this for 15 bucks?

I just bought this bookcase and will be returning it tomorrow. It was extremely difficult to put together. The pre drilled holes were slightly off. It did not snap together very well and it fell apart once together due to the wood splitting. While putting it together the black finish rubbed off on my hands. Take caution if you are assembling it on white carpet.

I was sooooooooooo excited to find a cute white 3 tier bookshelf for less than $50. We bought this product 2x's and had to return the bookshelf both times. The product was missing parts the first time and the wood shelf was broken in the box the second time. Dont waste your time and buy this - you will probably have to drive back to the store to return it. Going back and forth to pick the product up and return it each time cost us more in gas!!! I guess this is why it was only $15.00.

I plan on using this shelf to hold a small 22" tv on the top shelf and a dvd player or blu ray player on the lower shelf so I wanted to know if there was a hole that I can pass cords through. Thank you.

    • A. No hole. The back panel is made of cardboard so it would be easy to make your own hole exactly where you want it. I would make the hole before attaching it onto the book case so you can do it on a table and have some stability and make the hole smooth and perfect. Might be hard to do if you do it when it is attached to the book shelf.

    Back
I'd like to use this shelf as a half room divider. Since the back wouldn't be against a wall, I wanted to leave the backing off to have access from both sides. Is it stable enough to work without it? I didn't plan on loading it down with a lot of stuff, just little decorative items and a few books.
    by serif 8/19/2010

    • A. The back (without the finished backing) is unfinished, so in my opinion, it wouldn't look good exposed. But you could perhaps sand and paint it, and it might work. As far as stability, the backing is purely decorative so it should be fine.

    • A. Flimsy though it may be, the cardboard is what keeps the shelves square. Without it the shelves will cant/lean to the side. Most "assemble yourself" furniture is like this and it really does make a difference.

    • A. Yes, because the back is a piece of cardboard, does not give any extra support to the bookshelf... BUT you will need to buy black painting to for the edges (are unfinished) and at the bottom, the back part would not have the decorative frame at the bottom.

    • A. The Back panel is NOT going to make it more stable. It is only a thin piece of cardboard that you nail into it. It is not enough to keep it sturdy. I suggest you get a small bottle of wood glue to put in the joints and help make it more sturdy. With the explanation of how you plan on using it, it should be fine.

    • A. This is a Black Finish. It says it is a Black Oak finish, but it's not solid wood with a black finish on it. It is particle board with a Black "Laminate" Finish over it which makes it a Black Finish.

    • A. Mine is black, with free shipping. They do have white, 2 sizes, 3 and 5 shelf but they charge shipping for white. Go figure. So I took black.
