Bought this because it had listed that it had an HDMI cable, so I figured I would have everything and could hook up and go. Open the box. No HDMI cable included. It has an HDMI output but you must purchase the cable separate. So had to pay another 20 bucks to hook up. Also no batteries included for the remote. Lists all this on the inside flap of the box. Unfortunately you have to open the box first, which requires payment in order to figure that out.

second unit just failed - have had both units less than 4 months total - neighbor bought one at same time and his failed today also (his 1st) - Talked to Magnavox and would not stand behind warrenty on his, stated since he had kids they were using it too much (???) After I talked to them again they stated that I would have to ship this one back also and would cost me $40 for them to check out - trashed unit - WARNING - STAY AWAY FROM

I've owned this DVD player since last May (a total of 4 months - ironically the same amount of time as another reviewer who said his DVD player also died in addition to his neighbor's DVD player of the same make and model died as well.) Needless to say - my DVD player is already dead. We didn't even use it that much. Additionally, as another user pointed out - it doesn't even come with an HDMI cable. Do yourself a favor and buy a different DVD player unless you don't mind shilling out 30-40$ for a new on in four months. I would say this is most certainly a pattern.

Installation was simple and without any issues. I've had the unit for a few weeks and it has been problem free. Fortunately, I checked it out on Magnavox's website before purchase, and was aware that a HDMI cable is NOT included. I have tested it with both commercial DVD's and DVD's which I have created ("burned"), and both played as expected.

  • A. No, so pick up one for well under $5. No need to pay more, as HDMI is HDMI whether you pay 0.01 cents or $100.00 and you will get the same picture quality guaranteed!!

  • A. If this is the cable that you use to hook the DVD player to the TV, then yes, it is included. I used an older cable to hook mine up (from a former DVD player) and it worked fine. Note: the TV I have mine attached to does not have any other kind of cable attached to it, I am just using it for the DVD player.
