  • A. Bought 3 and they are all going back. Super easy set up but all it connects to is Vudu. We called Magnavox about connecting to Netflix and they said they had been fielding calls all day about it and the info on Walmarts site was incorrect and that player doesn't connect to Neflix.

  • A. No, It does not come with any application besides VuDu. I bought this under the impression from the website that netflix was available. I got it home plugged it in and the only available web option was vudu not even anyway to add apps like sony has on some models. Went to the magnavox website and it said there was a firmware update, which took far too long to install. After the update there were no changes to available content. That when i went to play a dvd about 2 minutes into the previews a large black box appeared in the middle of the screen. Now im using an old tv so i use an rf adapter, and in the user guide it makes reference's to anti piracy precautions, turns out in the faq on the website when that shows' up it is indicative of not enough memory to process the images. So the short of it, DO NOT BUY, NOT A DEAL.

So the website description says NETFLIX is included. But the manufacture doesn't say it is. Which is it? This is a huge factor for a lot of people probably. I want to pick this up for Black Friday, but it would be a waste if it doesn't stream netflix. Anyone (an associate) know exactly.

  • A. I spoke with a Magnavox rep this morning (11/26) after hooking up the unit (MBP5120F/F7) and not being able to access Netflix. They had been trained on the "Misprint" in the Walmart ad, and this unit definitely does NOT support Netflix. I was told that the MBP5130 (next model up) does, but the MBP5120 definitely does not. I believe it's technically possible for Walmart / Magnavox to work out a firmware update to add Netflix support, but who knows if that will happen. I've already written Walmart requesting some help on this, but I expect they will just tell me to return the unit for a refund :(

  • A. It's about to hit the fan with this model and WalMart. I just talked to a Magnavox associate and she said she's been bombarded with the Netflix question with this model -- and the answer is IT DOES NOT HAVE NETFLIX, THE 5130 MODEL DOES. So I'm off to return this pretty angrily, as well.

  • A. No NetFlix! This player only supports VUDU video-on-demand streaming. I am returning the product today. The specification on the site is wrong.

  • A. NO NETFLIX. I am jaded a bit, but after 3 hours I have learned a lot. First, this model has new firmware that neeeds to be downloaded, burned to CD and loaded to the Disk player. I didn't do this as I went the manual route. Magnavox was useless the first 2 calls. My Router Co, Belkin was awesome and talked me theotruhg the whol manula set up of the DVD player through Wi-Fi since I was unaware of the softweare upgrade. After finally getting to the internet, I can;t figure out how to get to netflix. This call #3 to magnavox. The 5120 model absolutely does not support Netflix reguardless of all the people who assume internet access means netflix will work in this thread. Magnavox says no, just VudU, no netflix. You need a magnaviox 5130 to stream netflix. So I fought the crowds for 2 iof these thngs at 5AM and now I have to fight the Customer Service Line to return both!

  • A. I bought it, was excited because the stupid website says it is netflix compatible, but I've set it up and no...it is NOT netflix compatible. There is only ONE app installed as of right now, and that's VUDU. And I updated the software...still no netflix app.

  • A. No it doesn't. I bought it today and will be returning it today because it does not have Netflix. And the customer service is horrible. It isn't even handled by Magnavox. Its handled by a company called Funai Service.

  • A. I went to Wal Mart today, almost bought this. But nowhere on the box does it list Netflix as a service. The only thing it lists is Vudu. So, before I bought, I called Netflix, and talked to a rep. I gave her the model number, and she replied that this model is NOT Netflix ready. The MBP 5130 is Netflix ready, but it goes for $118.00, has built in Wireless, but is NOT on the Black Friday list. Caveat Emptor!

For $70, it seemed like a good deal for a BR player, especially since it included wireless. Video quality is good, Vudu seems like it's OK (no Netflix support), and it's also reasonably responsive. However, I just can't get the wireless to work on this. When I test the networking connection, it is fine, but it will not connect to download updates or access Vudu. Wired networking is fine, but I don't have any open ports on my router, so the requirement for wireless. Even updating the player to the latest firmware doesn't fix the wireless connection issues. Seems like a DNS or gateway problem, but nothing else I own has problems connecting to my router, and I use DHCP, tried several troubleshooting steps, but nothing works. Bottomline (IMO), if you want a no-frills player, and don't need wireless, it's fine. But I'm going to have to return it because of the wifi connection issues.

I bought this on black friday just to stream netflix and guess what it doesnt. So i went to return it and asked that wal-mart replace it with the magnovox blu-ray player that did stream netflix model number MBP5130....and they did without charging me a penny more. So if you have about a half hour of time it is well worth it to work your way up the ladder. Wal-mart exchanged this misleading one for the one that does netflix, blockbuster, and vudu. It has the same wireless card but does netflix! Good luck to anyone else who tries this!

Magnavox is a great brand so I didn't hesitate to buy this product. However, when I tried connecting to wifi I had problems. I called CS and they said they have been having problems with this model and have a firmware upgrade that corrects the problem and did it ever!!!! It does not support Netflix but we have a wii and xbox 360 that does so now we have netflix and vudu! I do not regret this purchase now that it's updated! I am looking forward to magnavox adding more applications to it n the future but if you like facebook, twitter, flickr, or AP wire, this will have you ready to run. I hope this helps. I know there are a lot of negative reviews about the wifi and netflix but the upgrade fixes that and well netflix was not a deal breaker for me because I still have access sooo. Happy Hollidays!!!!

I was looking forward to streaming Netflix and got this with that expectation. After fiddling for three hours to get my connection correct (the SSID it found was titled the same as mine, but wasn't correct. I had to connect manually) which was fine, but then I was faced with VUDU. Which would be fine if I weren't already happy with my Netflix service. Also, had issues with the buttons on the remote. Too SMALL, Too LONG OF A DELAY and not enough options. Maybe I'm just getting old, but scrolling around on their screen tapping out the alphabet from a list is too distracting. I can fire up my laptop or type it in on my phone browser faster than searching on their wikipedia app. Cannot recommend this to anyone, really. It played BD's fine, has some nice options but its LAN is weak (only one bar out of 3 and my laptop was getting 5 of 5 from 2 ft farther away). I am taking this back and spending the extra $20 on a Sony. I don't know what came over me to purchase this without researching first, so I guess this is more my fault than the product's.

Had problems connecting to my wireless contacting support was a problem then I finally decided to go buy a cable to hook it right up to the router and found out I can't get netflix on this player and that is the only reason I bought it because they advertised it as being able to get netflix. It offers vudu but I'm not paying for each movie when I have been with netflix for 3 years. I thought this would be great have a dvd player in my living room with the roku box and now I could have it all blueray dvd and netflix and use it in my bedroom because I tend to fall asleep watching movies it would have been great pop in a movie if I get tired already in bed watch the rest tomorrow. If you are a netflix junkie like me do not buy this.
