Magnavox Blu-ray Disc Player, NB530MGX 3.9 5 55 63
Excellent Purchase! This Blu Ray Player is the second highest rated in the newest copy of Consumer Reports, over a Panasonic. That was enough to convince me. They havent been wrong yet. Beautiful pictures. Plays all formats. A quick, easy setup. I talked to their tech support and they were very helpful. It is warranted for one full year with a total exchange policy. Dont hesitate...buy it! 02/05/2009
No Updates Here This BD player was such a good deal I snatched it up as fast as I could. It has good video quality, as good as can be expected from a price like this. I learned quickly that this particular player is not supported by the manufacturer (Funai) as far as firmware updates. I purchased the product, then researched it online and right there was where I did everything backwards from the start. It does not support BD-Live 2.0, not a big deal but most players update to this version via firmware if they originally didn't support it from the beginning, not this one. It will play the newest releases (but not all, Bedtime stories was a no-go). How do you fix this? Firmware updates, oops, none here. No ethernet connection.I promptly returned the unit for a more well known and respected brand. Stay away from this player, so far the manufacturer is not supporting it. 05/27/2009
Very nice Blu-ray player For $98, I did not expect much; but I was nicely surprised from the moment I opened the box. The unit was nicely packed and protected; the manual was detailed. The front panel looks sleek, better than many big name brands like Samsung or Panasonic. The setup is effortless. The boot time is quite short being a Blu-ray player. I played all my Blu-ray and regular DVD discs without any problem. The picture quality is as good as you can get from a Blu-ray player in the native 1080p mode. The picture from regular DVD (scaled up to 1080p) is among the top tier of the scalers I tested. The only drawback is that it does not play VCD; I have many karaoke on VCDs. 08/08/2009
Great product just needs an update If you have purchased this item and are having problems playing back certain DVDs, you can update the firmware here: http://www.funai-corp.com/support/updates.aspxI watched Watchmen in Blu-ray and this was simply stunning. Plus, if you change the options to upscale your current DVDs to 1080i... they look awesome as well.I only mark it 4 for overall rating because it still a Profile 1.1 player instead of a 2.0 09/03/2009
