They took it out of the box and plugged it in. Shazam, no power. Got my money back and bought another brand. This is junk!! 01/22/2013

I was going to get another Emerson, but I read the other reviews and decided that, for me, this was the best one for the money.I like the control features; one touch cooking, the kitchen timer, Ect. the +30sec button is great if your popcorn isn't finished before the time runs out.The control buttons do have to be pressed firmly but this hasn't been a problem since I've gotten used to it.I keep my microwave on top of my refrigerator because I'm tall and it saves counter space. I didn't consider the length of the cord being an issue before I bought it, but it was just a little short of reaching the outlet, so I had to buy a three prong extension cord.It does beep loud 5 times when it is done, which some people have complained about; I don't mind it. I do wish it gave the post-cooking reminder beep every 30-60 seconds like my mom's microwave but it doesn't; which I believe is good news for the majority of microwave consumers who prefer to NOT have a reminder beep.The appearance is fine; the only reason I only gave 4 stars for appearance is because the Emerson of comparable price was stainless steel (but it didn't rate as well in the reviews).I have only had the microwave for about a month, so I can't comment on the durability; but so far, it has been a pleasure having it. 12/31/2012
