I mowed the lawn 3 times and am satisfied. Very happy with the starting it starts on the first pull everytime. I ran over a hudge pile of leaves. Even without the bag on it mulched them so small that they just disapeared. Very happy with the mulching. Runs smooth with less vibration than usual. I am surprised. I got more than I expected. Glad that I spent the few extra bucks and got the one with the side discharge.

3 years ago I bought a 350 dollar craftsman (after warrenty) from sears, it had the 675 series briggs and stratton on it...and it was a decent mower, however it bogged down badly in wet grass. This yardman mower, I bought for 207 dollars after warranty, (discount since I work at walmart, it would have been 230) is considerably cheaper and even higher quality. The engine is the 625 series, which is in the same league as the 675...but this mower makes up for it with the deck design which is more important then the slight power advantage of the craftsman. The wheels roll smoother then the craftsman, and the mower may be slightly lighter. I gave this mower a workout the day I bought it, my nephew who had been slacking on his mowing, I took this mower to his house and cut down eight inch grass no problem, I even tried the bag out. The mower didn't bog down even after it started to rain. So if you want a push mower worth 300 dollars for a 200 dollar price get this one, I promise you will be happy with it.

I have been using Yardman mowers for at least the past ten years. I am a professional horticulturist and i run these machines almost every day for at least 2-3 hours a day. They are very reliable, always start on just a few pulls, and rarely need more than a plug change during the season. Also all parts are available which further can extend the life of the machine. Best buy for your money anywhere. The machines are lightweight and the handle can be folded so that it can fit in the back of a minivan or suv. I have had some with Honda engines and others with B and S engines and frankly do not see a difference. Buy this mower for a small property and it should last you 10 years.

I had not purchased a new mower for several years. But sometmies life changes your plans. We went to Wal~Mart after a lot of research on the web. And bought the yarman mower we now own. Iwas not familier with the Yard Man products so i was ?? After getting the machine home and assembled boy was that simple and easy. I added oil and gas and pulled the start cord. Oh yeah don't foget to hold that little handle down [which i had forgot to do] I poked that little red rubber primer thing three times held down the handle and zoom of she took. Easy to push and a delight to use [did i say that] anyway it cuts smooth is quiet and is compact. Now that collector bag works great. And the fold down handle is great for winter storage. Drain the gas for storage though. Leave tank 1/4 add Sta Bil to the tank too. Would i buy this mower again yep you betcha. But i am good for 2 years "Warranty 2 Year" Would i reccomend this mower two neighbors have used my mower in my yard [of thank God for Lemon-ade i drank a lot while them guys tester her out. Yep they bought one each of them did. Hope this review passes muster its the honest truth.

1st mower I've ever owned. Researched - read reviews. Chose this mower. Purchased it @ Walmart yesterday. Didn't need a single tool to assemble it. Read instructions - assembled. Read user manual - added oil & gas. Adjusted height (super easy to do w/ this mower.) Two easy pulls & it fired right up - no need to prime. Surprisingly light weight. Quiet for a gas-powered motor, too. Didn't think I'd like the feature where engine cuts out if handle is released but I found I did. Particularly since it's so easy to start up - one easy pull & its running again. Navigates uneven terrain very nicely. Mulches very well - even through tall weeds. (Not using the bag or side chute for now - just mulching.) I'm very happy w/ this purchase.

    • A. No, but it so light-weight unless your mowing up hill you'll enjoy this mower. Frankly I had a self-propelled mower and it's added weight and constant adjustment made more of a chore to use.

    • A. No, you have three options. Attach the rear bag, leave the rear discharge closed and open the side discharge, or leave them both closed and let it mulch.

    • A. The bag is to have a clean cut with no shavings left on the lawn. The bag will also pick up the leaves that you run over. If you are not trying to win the "prettiest lawn contest: and your lawn is not very high you can opt to not bag. When grass is high the side discharge can be used if not bagging to keep the shavings from coming out of the back of the mower blowing all over you. When grass is relatively low you can leave off the side discharge and just let it mulch with no bag. This mower mulches well enough that I mowed the front lawn with no bag. Unless you looked really close you could not tell that I didn't bag

    • A. That's completely up to you. If you want to collect the clippings, you need to use the bag. However, if you are cutting a large area covered with weeds and don't want to have to empty the bag every 5 minutes, you would use the side discharge to simply blow the clippings to the area where you want to collect them.

    • A. When bag is removed, a flap covers the rear discharge, and if you don't want the grass to discharge out the side, you insert a block on the hole that comes with the mower

    • A. No and no. You have choices to make here. I use rear-bagging in the early spring and fall to pickup debris and leaves... the rest of the time I just mulch. Side discharge is helpful, but I frankly don't ever use it.

    • A. No, you can just mulch with it if wanted. I mulch my front yard and use the bag for the back. Never use the side discharge. That's one huge benefit of this mower. You can use any 3 of the options.

    • A. Gas. Unless you have just a tiny area to mow I would not recommend a corded electric mower. They are dangerous and are more of a hassle than a gas can and a pull tring. These newer lawn mowers these days are very easy to start and requires very little effort to pull the tring.
