Lord of the Rings: Conquest (Xbox 360) 3.6 5 7 7
Why didn't Sam and Frodo ride the eagle to Mordor? Why? Because the game wouldn't have been this good, and Sauron would have seen them coming. But i kid, this game is the best "Lord Of The Rings" game yet. You can play as any character you would ever want to as well as any battle you'd ever wish to participate. The campaign is quite challenging, even on the easiest difficulty. The online multiplayer is where its at, its very similar to "Star Wars" Battlefront. So far, all of the downloadable additions to this game have been free. If you are a LOTR fan, this game is a must. 02/03/2009

A fairly good game I am a fan of both Star Wars and Lord of The Rings. I mention Star Wars to say that I am also an immense fan of its Battlefront series. So when I found out that EA and Pandemic were working on a "Lord of The Rings Battlefront", I was excited. I bought the game, and personally find it to be very enjoyable for the most part. The gameplay is fun, and the graphics passable. And, for fans of Lord of The Rings, there is a lot this game has to offer, especially with the Rise of Sauron campaign. However, there are a few things potential buyers should know;First of all, you can play full maps in the campaigns, but Instant Action only allows you to play on one fraction of the map. You can't change the section of the map, either, you just have to play on that specific part, with areas open to you in the campaign closed of with somehow indestructible steel fences. I believe this is also the case in online play, but I'm not sure, because I haven't been able to play it online. This leads me to the second warning. If anyone considering the game is looking forward to playing online with friends, then you will be disappointed. EA has shut down online servers for many of their older games, and LOTR: Conquest is one of them. This wasn't as much of an issue for me, as I'm very used to playing games "offline", but still, it made me feel sort of cheated when I found out that a major aspect of the game is no longer available. So in that respect, I think the value of the game has decreased a bit. So, once more, in case I worded it confusingly before:LOTR: Conquest's online gaming feature can no longer be played. The only other negative aspect of the game is that the combat can get rather frustrating at times. If you get into hand to hand combat with certain units, and they manage to hit you, many times you're either knocked to the ground and then beaten to death there, or your unit recoils from the attacks, which in turn cause you to be unable to do anything until either the attacking unit misses you or you're dead. However, I'm not trying to dissuade fans/buyers from getting the game. There are some negative aspects (which can be bigger to some than others, depending on gaming preferences), but the game is very easy to pick up and play, and is very, very fun, especially to fans of the Lord of The Rings films. I would recommend it highly to such fans, but perhaps not so much for people not familiar with the franchise.... And people looking to just play online need not apply. But hey, you guys'll be fine with MW2, right? ;) 05/26/2010
