    This griddle is so convenient. I keep it in my oven so I can get at it quickly to cook eggs, quesadillas, bacon, or things I want to warm up. Cast iron cookware is so convenient and easy to clean..especially after it has been properly seasoned. The product came seasoned but its best to add a season before your first use. To season, using vegetable shortening (preferred) or vegetable oil, rub a thin film all over the griddle. Place in a 350 degree oven for an hour. Afterwards, always using a little olive oil (or other oil or bacon grease) to cook with. After the griddle cools, use hot water and a plastic scrub brush to clean griddle. Wipe excess water off griddle. Place on a burner for about 30 secs to help burn off excess moisture. As I mentioned earlier, I keep my griddle in the oven, so if I even need to re-season (which should be done about once a year), I just put a little shortening on it and let it bake with whatever else I am cooking in the oven. You can also take this camping or on your barbecue grill cause it can take the heat. I strongly recommend this product.

    This is a great product fro anything you want to use a griddle for. I bought one from store for making indian pancakes (dosas), like it so much that I went to get another one. Couldn't find it at a store near me so got it using the ship-to-store feature(a really excellent feature I might add). Well from since then there has been no stopping me.......lol. Not really but I have been using the secound one for everything from omelets to making burgers. Yes I have been using this griddle to flip my own home made patties and its excellent. It heats up evenly and when added the right amount of oil it gives that perfect crust. Well I might be over board with it...but honestly it is sooo much better than non-stick seriously....I am a fan.

    I recently started using cast iron products (after tired of buying non stick pans) and was searching for a round griddle. This is the right size and not very heavy, compared to the other cast iron skillets/pans I am using. It is a very good buy for this price and I love using it everyday.

    I would like to get a cast iron pizza pan but noticed they were all around $35. I figure, cast iron is cast iron, so do any of you know if this pan would work well as a pizza pan to use in the oven for smaller crusts?

    • Absolutely...season well and may sprinkle with some cornmeal for authenticity. Best to preheat in oven or it will take too long to heat up and cook pizza correctly. I reheat pizza on it on stove top with an old domed pot lid on it like a mini oven...like fresh baked.

    • Yes, the griddle will work if it is heated in a 500F oven for 20 minutes before placing the pizza on the griddle, but a ceramic pizza stone is better. The problem with the griddle is that it has a slightly raised edge and the pizza will not slide on or off easily even with a pizza peel.

    • Lodge Logic is electrostatically coated with a proprietary vegetable oil, and cured at high temperatures to allow the oil to deeply penetrate the surface of the cast iron. This "seasoning" allows for a natural, easy-release finish that improves with use. Keep your cast iron clean, dry and coated with oil in order to create and maintain this optimal non-stick seasoning. There are brief, informative videos regarding cleaning, seasoning and maintaining the seasoning placed conveniently below each of the Lodge Logic items.

    • When cast iron is seasoned it will be pretty much non-stick. After washing take a paper towel and add a little oil and wipe the inside all over and heat on the stove for a few minutes. The pan will get a nice black coating and will be pretty much non-stick.

    • All of Lodge comes pre-season. After you use the pan to cook, u wash then hand dry then oil again. season cast iron pans are non-stick, just keep it oil..

    • Seasoning fills and seals the pores typical with the casting of iron. Some are better finished, but still have micro-pores you want the seasoning to fill and seal for a non-stick effect.

    • Seasoning means to produce a coating on the metal surface which keeps food from sticking. With frequent use of the cast iron griddle using a little vegetable oil each time the seasoning process is maintained. If, however, the griddle surface is scrubbed and the dark to black surface is removed, then the next time the griddle is used, there is a high probability that the food will stick tight to the metal surface. So, to "re-season" the surface coat the griddle with vegetable oil such as corn oil, place the griddle in your oven at 400F for an hour, then let it cool in the oven. After use each time avoid scrubbing the surface, just brush off food crumbs and wipe with a paper towel. The heat will kill any germs.

    • Seasoning is applying oil on the pan to keep up the nonstick and rust free qualities of the pan. After washing it with warm water and a scrub brush -- no soap -- dry the pan. I've seen some people say they use coarse salt for added scrubbing power if needed. Heat up the pan a bit and rub a thin layer of oil over the whole surface with a paper towel. That's it. Leave on the stove top or in the oven to cool.

    • Seasoning is oil baked into the surface of the cast iron skillet. It prevents rust, but most importantly, it makes a kind of natural, no-stick cooking surface. Instructions for seasoning cast iron can be found with an internet search

    • seasoning - is spreading a little bit of oil in your entire griddle. This is iron, so seasoning with oil helps this against rust. Also, when you cook, most of the times you will not need to use much oil. I will definitely recommend doing this after every wash. Dry the whole griddle first (top and bottom) and season with oil.

    • Seasoning or re-seasoning is when your pans are clean and you place them on the stove or in the oven while it is on to dry out the excess water and then adding oil to the pan...therefore keeping it seasoned and non-stick. I hope this helps.

    • Yes it comes with a wax coating and preseasoned. Please wash with hot water and soap to remove the wax coating and then, just spray or dab some cooking oil on it before you use it each time.

    • It says it is, but I always use enough oil to where it doesn't matter if it wasn't seasoned. And after I just wipe it down with a napkin, and everything falls right off. The best non stick ever!

    • yes, it is preseasoned, you should go thru the seasoning process about once a year, using clean pans rub solid shortening all over cooking surface and bake in oven 1 hour at 350 degrees.

    • I have several old cast iron pans which are pretty much non-stick. So when I bought a new pan stating preseasoned I thought it would be non-stick right off >>WRONG!!! The factory preseasoned keeps it from rusting only Will not be non-stick until it used a lot. After cleaning every time add some oil and heat on the stove a few minutes.
