i put this together in about 1.5 hours, going at a slow pace. i assembled it on my own, but you may want another set of hands to move the parts around or hold things in place. be sure to go slow and READ ALL of the words in the instructions. don't just look at the pictures. there are some parts described in the text that are not shown in the diagrams. HAND TIGHTEN FIRST! the reviewer that complained about screws not holding likely overtightenend and stripped the metal or plastic. this is NOT battle hardened, professional equipment. this is what you get for under $100, so be gentle! tighten it firmly, but be conservative or you WILL strip the plastic or metal holding the screws in place. OK enough about that. go slow ... make sure you understand and confirm the parts are assembled properly at each step. if you do this you will be successful at assembly. if you rush, man-handle it, or get frustrated ... relax or you are gonna botch it. probably the most challenging part was attaching the rim and backboard. these parts are attached in tandem around the pole assembly and you may want another set of hands to hold the parts together while you tighten the bolts. TIP - the backboard may look a bit hazy - it is - because there is a protective FILM on the clear plastic. the instructions don't mention it, but you can peel this film off by picking away at the edge. once you remove it the backboard is see-through and clear. put the net on in about a minute and wheeled it into place. filled it with WATER (less expensive than sand) and added about a gallon of antifreeze to prevent winter freezing. DONE! now, to address the quality of this product. like i said, it's not pro-grade. it's definately entry-level grade, but really all you need to play ball with your kid/s. mine came with a free basketball which is a nice bonus. i think this is gonna last a few years, which is all i really expect to get out of it. at that point i may want to upgrade to better quality, but for now this is all you need to get started.

This was purchased for our 7 year old son for Christmas. We never had any problems with the screws. All are tight and it's held together nicely. It wasn't the easiest to put together, but we weren't expecting it to be. To us, this hoop is just as good and looks just as nice as the others in its price range. Keeping in mind that this hoop is $99.00 (we got the black Friday price, which was 30 dollars cheaper :), it is going to look like a $99.00 hoop, not a $500 hoop. If you want something pretty nice as a starter hoop for your family, I would recommend this. If you are looking for a gym style or more professional/advanced hoop, be ready to throw out the extra cash, but don't complain just because you wanted the $500-$1000 hoop and purchased the $99 one. Overall, we like it alot and works well for our family.

Thought this was a great price got it home set it up and cant even play with it because the screws that go to the supports to hold the pole up and the screws that hold the basketball goal on keep falling out. They r supposed to have gaurds to prevent overtightning but it leaves like a half inch of screw that just bounces around until it shakes loose. Now we have to wait until we buy new screws and bolts to properly fasten it. My 9 yr old son is sooo dissapointed. I had to choose how often i use this product so i put everyday cuz that is what it would be if i could actually use it.

Love love love this product for my 6 and 9 year olds! This hoop is a very good value as it is VERY sturdy and easy to put together and move to store. I would not spend $500 when this product is everything you need for much less.

The assembly instructions could have been better but nothing to cry about. My girlfriends son plays basketball and this is perfect for him to practice on at home. This 11 yr old will not be having any tournaments or dunking on this anytime soon, but when the time comes we will most definitely upgrade to better hoop system. People, don't expect an NBA quality hoop at this price point! You will have more trouble putting that together. My back was soar from moving appliances the previous day but still managed to put it together and adjust the height myself in about 2 hours.

    • A. It is easy. I watched some videos at lifetime.com which show you what to expect. I needed two adults to assemble the backboard and rim. I wanted to be careful not to scratch anything.

    • A. It was very difficult for me. It took me 3 hrs. plus.... I had trouble figuring out how the 3 pole assembly went together. Instructions were not that clear to me. I put them together wrong (which cannot be undone) I had to re-order 3 new pole's, which took 2 weeks to arrive. I can say that 'LIFETIME" will send you whatever you need concerning 'replacement parts.' I think their used to doing it. After I finally got it assembled it worked good.

    • A. I would say that it is a good driveway hoop. The rim is not break-away and I don't think it would support someone hanging on the rim. For a normal driveway pick-up game, it is perfect.

    • A. You probably want a larger backboard and one that the pole is not so close to the hoop & that you could adjust more easily. We got this for our 6&9 year olds but plan on having to purchase a new one in about 5 years.
