LeapFrog Tag Junior Book Pal, Violet 24 24
Great Product but needs more memory capacity This is a great product overall. Our child was able to use it intuitively from the time she was 2 years old and she loves playing with the Tag Junior books. They are great at teaching her to read (not to mention just keeping her occupied). It's a fun, interactive, educational toy, well worth the money.My one gripe is the memory limit. With 8MB on board You can only store 5-7 books at a time. This means possibly starting the leapfrog application, finding a USB cable, plugging in and syncing every time your child picks a book that's not loaded. In the age of smartphones there's really no excuse for not having a lot more on-board memory, or at least an SD card expansion slot.Pros: Very intuitive and fun, nice selection of books that are available at many retailers or online.Cons: Memory capacity 12/26/2011
Only 8MB, really? Very cool concept, and my daughter and I love how the product works, but are we living in 1999? This product only has 8MB of memory, and can only hold about 4-6 books at a time. So much for building a library that my child can use any time. I will need to "hide" the books that aren't saved into Tag Jr, and swap them out periodically.I'm a techie parent and know that flash memory is dirt cheap and micro small. This product should have had 10x the memory. 12/25/2011
Good but definte room for improvement I don't understand the choice for only 8MB of storage on the device... How much does flash memory really cost these days. I can fit nearly all the books we have at one time. Last night my daughter was going to read some before bed, but the books weren't loaded. So, I hooked up the tag reader to the computer and LeadFrog Connect software had to update, and then the tag reader had to be updated. Then I was finally able to attempt removing/added books. However I could not get it to work. After about 20 minutes of frustration I discovered you cannot add and remove books at the same time. First I had to remove the books, then let the reader reboot so I could add the new books. Not very intuitive... Overall I think the concept and the way the reader works is great, not to mention my daughter loves it. It does have some room from improvement both on the software side and hardware size, though. 12/21/2011
Tag Junior I wouldn't recommend this item if you think of purchasing a variety of books.The memory stick is low. My son (age 2) likes all his books and the different sounds, but I have to keep plugging the Tag Junior on the laptop and switching the downloads.Then one day I tried to start it up again and only green light turns on. No sound is working. I haven't had it for that long. Maybe less than 6 months. I'm still trying to figure out if Leap frog will exchange it for me.My suggestion keep the receipt. I lost mine. 10/14/2011
