The games are fun even if the child is doing advance work, I think a first grader would find these games fun and exciting.

the learning is based at grade level, so you can choose a higher grade level when you are setting up the system. as far as the games they are pretty simple and easy but still fun. however if your child is use to playing a more advanced gaming system this might be a little boring.

LeapTV is intended for children ages 3-8.

There are so many games and so many ways to play I believe your child will enjoy it. As they beat the challenges they get harder so it will keep their attention. Since you have a motion sensor camera they can see themselves on tv. What child doesn't love that!

No, but you do get a Bonus game with registration! (Pet Play World).

It comes with a little pet game where you can feed, bathe, play and decorate a pet. Some of the pets are unicorns, penguins, monkeys, etc. Hope this helps!
