I purchased this game for my 6 year old and my almost 8 year old spends time playing it as well. I don't think this one is meant for children who can't read yet as they have to do some reading but my girls won't put it down. While learning they are having fun and my car rides have become a lot quieter. Definitely worth the money.!

My 4 year old loves it but gets mad a few parts were the numbers don't show up. It will say _ + _ = ? And you are supposed to grab the answer number and put it over the ?. BUT you can't see what 2 numbers you are supposed to be adding. Either a glitch or the dark print and you can't see them. Then if you press the help button or the question button on your LeapsterExplorer it will help you by showing you a hint. My 4 year old (almost 5) will still get frustrated with it and I will have to come help her, but it is fine. I don't mind helping her figure it out. But they really do need to make it a little more user friendly for little kids. My eight year thinks it's ok. But doesn't really like to play it often. But it is still nice to have her at least playing a game and practicing her math, but it is pretty easy for her.

This game has some very challenging math. My 5 year old has kind of shelved this app for a bit, but I'm not worried. She's done the same with other math apps and comes back to them when as the material is more her level. The graphics and fairies draw her in, and the math is great. This is one she won't outgrow for some time, because the content is challenging. She is not frustrated with it - I think because she loves the fairy aspect of it. This is NOT for preschoolers - mind the age recommendation on this. I saw other reviewers upset it was too hard for their very young children.

This games is too complicated for my 5 year old,who is advanced in most subjects in Kindergarden and is already reading. I even went on the computer to ajust the math problems. Its the overall game itself is too difficult and should be placed in a higher age group.

My daughter got this game for her 4th birthday. She loves Tinkerbell and I thought it would be a big hit. It was - but she wasn't ready for it at 4... At 4.5 years she picked it up again and finished the game in an evening. It is one of her favorites and she is now adding and subtracting double digits without help. Once she is fully comfortable with the concepts, I can further tailor the game to her new ability level. The text heavy game interface is a big negative. The maze like game play is actually not so difficult as others make it out. There is a big arrow that tells you where to go. The help feature is great as it explains the mathmatical concepts with narration and images, outside of game play. It's a wonderful game that most appropriate for children 5 and up with a preference for math...

This game is very challenging for my 4 year old (rated for older) so I have had to help her play it. She just turned four and is definitely too young for the game right now. I think once she gets older this will be very helpful for reading and math skills and more fun for her when she can do it on her own. But as it is, I do the reading and telling her what she needs to do, or doing it myself, as well as a lot of the math. She can add on her fingers, but some of the math in the game is more challenging. And so far, we have not finished the game, unlike other princess stories where my daughter has played the game many times over.

My 7yr old grandaughter loves her leapfrog explorer leapPad. Her parents got the system, we bought couple games and carrying case. She felt very grown up taking pics, using video and playing her games. Well worth the money, but would suggest watching for sales of course. Get the case or some case to keep everything together. Hers & her brother have 2 different kind but games are interchangable...perfect planning!!!!

We purchase this product for our daughter for Christmas and she played this game once and doesn't want to play it again. I tried to encourage her to play, but after I played with it myself, I knew why she won't play this game anymore. The game doesn't narrate very well and it confusing because you don't know which way to go or what exactly you are looking for to get to the next level. In other words you are going in blind with this game.

Very disappointed with this game. It's target age is 5-9 years old. I got it for my 4 1/2 year old daughter. There is a lot of reading to get through and she doesn't enjoy it very much because she can't do it on her own just yet. There should be a warning on the box stating that it requires reading skills. We have not come across this problem with any of the other games yet.

Bought this for my 5 year old. It reqires her to read the directions before going to the next step. I wish it read the directions out load when you clicked on them. I even had my 7 yr. old neighbor try it out and she found it very difficult and gave up within a few minutes. I am VERY dissappointed to have spent so much for this terrible ap.
