About this item

"Utopia": In their final film, Laurel and Hardy inherit a yacht and end up shipwrecked in the Pacific! Accompanied by chef Antoine, a "stateless man," and Giovanni, a stowaway, Stan and Ollie establish a tropical paradise using Daniel Defoe's "Robinson Crusoe" as their guide. Soon, Eden gets its Eve in the form of a vivacious French singer fleeing a failed romance, who brings an unwelcome note of temptation and competition into their little island fraternity. "The Flying Deuces": When a pretty Parisienne named Georgette declines his offer of marriage, American tourist Hardy decides to throw himself in the Seine - a trip in which his pal isn't eager to join him. Francois suggests that the boys join the Foreign Legion so Ollie can forget, but life in the Legion is harder than they expected, especially when they learn that Francois is Georgette's husband! After trying to desert, they're condemned to face a firing squad, and their only hope of escape is a plane that neither of them knows how to fly! "Laurel & Hardy On Parade": In this selection, the twosome takes a cattle boat from America to lovely Scotland. The reason? Ollie wants to hear the reading of Stanley's grandfather's will. You will, too; because the boys get the grandfather's most valuable possessions and wind up in India, where they really clean up. Special fun: The Laurel & Hardy theme is played by a blacksmith on his anvil. "Classic Moments With Laurel & Hardy": This compilation of rare and hilarious film footage features Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy in such memorable moments as their first appearance together in "Lucky Dog", ten years before their debut as a team in 1927. See the boys on tour in the 1930s, a rare 1943 color short made for the U.S. Forest Service, their only TV appearance on "This is Your Life" in 1954 and the last known footage of them together in 1957.

Some Films Presented in Black & White.
