Laguna Full Platform Bed With Headboard, Black Woodgrain 4.1 5 43 45
Great product, great look! After reading many reviews before buying this bed, I decided to buy it. I was to expect some damage and the assembly to be rather difficult. To my surprise everything was in tack and undamaged. The assembly did take some time, about three hours. I was taking my time though...which I recommend. It is not difficult to assemble at all if you take the time to familiarize yourself with the directions. It's only pictures but I had no problem at all in figuring it out. The foot board for the top part was rather hard to attach. Since I was doing it by myself, I had to prop each of the side pieces up with something and attach them to the front of the bed first, then I attached the foot piece balancing it on my upper legs. It went together quiet uniformly, all the holes matched up. Some reviews stated that they had to drill their own holes, I did not have too. Although, a drill is needed for screwing the headboard pieces to the metal parts. I found the screws were hard to get in with a regular screwdriver. The rest of the screws went in nicely with a regular screwdriver. Also, you will need a hammer(for the dowels and screw pieces) and separate all of the parts before you start anything. You will have to label the boards, but that is simple as long as you look closely at the pictures. I also used a pair of pliers to tighten the nuts on the bolts for the headboard. I was wondering how thick the mattress should be as well. After it was assembled the place for the mattress measures a little over 4" from the top of the slats to the top of the side. I think a 5" to 10" mattress would look and feel fine without hiding too much of the headboard. And I did get some splinters, so be careful. :) Make sure you have the space while assembling the bed. The boxes it is shipped in aren't that big, just long, all three fit in a Ford Escape easily.Overall, this is a great product for the price. I priced a lot of platform beds on different web sites and this one was the better deal. I highly recommend this bed. It has a very sophisticated, and contemporary look and feel. It looks like it costs a lot more. I am very satisfied. I hope this helps. I have to say I really do like this bed. I will post some pictures at a later date. 01/05/2010
Bed is nice, but Site-to-Store was bad Shipping was fast; I ordered this bed a week before christmas and it was shipped to the store 12/22. Since I was visiting my parents for the holidays, I had the packages delivered to the state they live in. My parents said the packages were left sitting out in the back of the store with the regular merchandise (not to mention personal information listed on the packages). This may explain why there were so many dents in the bed components. My parents drive a SUV, so they were easily able to take the three packages to their home. I drive a full size sedan, but I was only able to fit two packages in my car. So I drove back to my house with only 2/3 of a bed. The boxes are extremely heavy. I would definitely recommend the help of a second person. My dad brought me the third box and we assembled the bed in about 2 ½ hours. It didn’t help that the alphabetic stickers that were supposed to identify each component in the instructions were not applied to any of the pieces; instead the stickers were on a sheet of paper! Plus, the instructions left out a couple of steps. This assembly is best done with a second person due to the bed’s geometry and the weight of pieces. The bed looks great once assembled. There were some chips and dents. But, I was able to disguise them with wood filler and a black marker. The bed is sturdy and looks worth more than I paid for it, which is always a plus. Overall, it was a great value. 01/27/2010
Great bed, sturdy, looks great. Okay, first off, if you are considering this bed, it's a steal! The only reason I gave this 4 stars, (5 for everything else, minus features, that one got 4) is because on the two top rails that run along the side of the bed were "dented" in, and it's noticeable, but not terrible. I was slightly disappointed. Here's some pro's and cons:1. PRO. This bed is super heavy, roughly 150lbs all together. It's sturdy as a rock and as long as you don't plan on doing gymnastics on it, it will do just fine.2. PRO. Looks great. It doesn't look like that press board-barely-together-cheap-look. It looks expensive and you can't even tell you had to put it together.3. CON. It is a pain in the butt to put it together. The directions seem easy enough to follow, although make sure you look at the boards. The beams can only go a certain direction due to pre-drilled holes that you'll need for the next step, so try to be proactive if you can! I had to redo some parts, but mostly easy. The holes came pre-drilled, I didn't need to use a, drill but you'll need the mini-tool it comes with and a phillips head screw driver. I put it together in less than 3 hours. I put it together by myself, it took longer, and the boards are heavy, but I made do. It's doable.4. PRO Site to store shipping. Don't bother paying to have it delivered to your home, they use Fed-ex or UPS anyways. It comes in long (8 feet maybe) boxes and it won't fit in a small care. And they are heavy, so grab some help!5. PRO Slats are provided with the bed, and when you open them, don't try to cut the cloth straps! It unfolds into perfectly spaced slats that exactly fit.6. CON If I ever move, there's no way am I taking this thing apart. It's surely possible, I guess, but it would be a sure pain.Overall, great product, I would definitely recommend this and purchase it again. It would have been easier to put together, had I had another person, but doable by yourself with some creative work. A drill isn't necessary, but I'm sure it would have made it quicker and less tiring. No scratches with delivery, but the dents on the ends were barely noticeable. 02/10/2011
Good Bang for the Buck! My sons love this bed! It is very expensive looking, and gives their rooms a Mod-appeal. They are extremely happy with the purchase, and so are my husband and I. On the other hand, the assembly was grueling for my husband - who normally takes pride in assembling and repairing things around the house. It took him and my 13 year old a great deal of time to assemble just one of the beds we purchased. Other than the assembly, we absolutely love the beds. (I would have given this product a 5-star rating, but the difficult assembly knocked it down a notch.) 12/20/2009
