I consider myself to be an expert in 3D imaging, and in my opinion at Walmart's price the LG42LM3400 offers the best bang-for-the-buck of any 3D set currently available. I bought this set as a gift and was able to compare it to the more expensive 120Hz LG42LM6200 set I own. The picture quality on both sets is identical even though the 3400 is supposedly a 60 Hz display. These sets produce a fabulous image, both in regular high definition and in 3D. The LG's passive 3D technology doesn't require expensive shutter glasses that will break and run out of batteries. The set comes with four 3D glasses, and you can bring as many as you want home from any "Real 3D" movie. The one thing to consider with a passive 3D set is the viewing angle - if you're above or below the set you'll see a blurring of the 3D image known as "ghosting". As long as you're aware of this issue it's easy to position the set for great 3D performance. So why is it so cheap? The 42LM3400 doesn't have built-in wifi, but any decent Blu-Ray player is going to have that. There are only two HDMI inputs, but that's enough for a cable box and a 3D Blu-Ray player (an essential accessory.) There's only an optical connection for audio out, but that's all you'll need if you want to use a receiver to set up surround speakers. Basically LG left out all the pointless bells and whistles, but you still have an amazing picture and everything else you need to enjoy it.Techeverlasting 05/07/2013
