The Star Wars Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon is a wonderful building set for kids in the recommended age range. The package comes with the AV-7 Cannon, a limited edition mini figure, and two Wolf Pack Clone Troopers mini figures. The mini figures also come with their own personal weapons, a light saber and a pair of blasters! The cannon can be easily fired from low angles or long distance firing. My 10 yr. old grandson and I are really enjoying playing with it. When not in play, the cannon makes an awesome display piece. I would very much recommend this product!

Even better than expected!

The LEGO Star Wars Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon Building Set is a wonderful addition to the vast line of Star Wars/LEGO products. It's fairly intricate in design, making it look really great after assembly. Although the set is a little tricky, my nine year-old was able to put 95% of it together by himself. He needed just a couple of suggestions from a grownup, and the rest he did himself. He was very proud when it was complete. This set is sophisticated enough that my teen son also likes it as well. There are lots of tiny parts, so this is not for tiny kids, and the current price is a bit steep, but if those issues don't concern you, this is a great choice for Star Wars/LEGO fans.

Great for Star Wars Fans But Expensive

My 11 year old son was so excited when he saw this had arrived last week. He opened it up and got to work right away. The instruction booklets were very clear and easy to understand. Over 400 pieces for him to put together. This is one of the few toys that has been able to draw his attention away from video games in a long time. He spent two hours putting this together the same night he got it. He was so impressed with the realistic appearance of the finished product and the fact it has movable parts. It turned out to be bigger and better than he and I both had anticipated. It came with a few extra parts, just in case I am sure. He has already put the assembled cannon building set on his display shelf in his bedroom, although he does still take it down and play with it. This product is perfect for his age group. A great hands on puzzle type of toy for a bit of a challenge. Thanks Lego!

Awesome alternative to video games

Lego Star Wars #75045, Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle cannon is a building toy. It has 434 total pieces. It would be age appropriate for 8 years old to adults. Wow, the educational tools it teaches you. You really have to be to understand the Instruction Manual and see how all the pieces fit together (piece by piece) and (step by step) to make the Anti-Vehicle Cannon. My husband and I helped our 10 year old grandson to build this Lego. It was "AWESOME". I would recommend parents and grandparents and ect., get involved with your child putting this together and I assure you that you will totally enjoy doing it while having lots of fun at the same time.This product is made of good quality Lego pieces. A very good value for the price. It was a total enjoyment putting this together. I enjoyed this so much that I would like to purchase other sets to put together. I have no negative comments -all positive. THUMBS UP TO THIS LEGO!

Awesome Lego Star Wars Building Toy #75045

This Lego's canon turned out to be a lot larger than I thought it would be. It took about 45 minutes or so to be put together and then he played with it for a few hours after that. We did have a few extra pieces after it was assembled but I looked and couldn't figure out if they were extras or if something was missing. It didn't affect the use of the canon. As with any Lego's product the pieces are small and can be dangerous for small children but overall this is a great piece. I was impressed also with the fact that it came with three figurines. Granted only one was a main character but having several with a piece this size was a nice touch. The canon itself is sturdy despite having narrow looking legs. It held up to “stomping and walking” without losing any pieces or breaking off of the canon itself. The legs are adjustable so that you can collapse them towards the center for easier storage. Combining this with other Star Wars Lego's to make a complete scene was a lot of fun as well. I highly recommend this piece for any Lego or Star Wars fans!

Fun use of your imagination!

At my home, we are all Lego and Star Wars fans. We own several sets from this line as well as many of the other Lego sets. I've put together some pros and cons about this set – but by far, the highlight of this set is the Droideka, at least it is for my family. It took my 12 year old less than an hour to put together at a leisurely pace. As always, Lego instructions and packing are the best.
Pros
• Great characters included, and two projectiles
• Fires a projectile that is propelled by a spring – the average distance it travels when shot is 7-8 feet
• The legs of the cannon are easy to pose
• The cannon has a little seat for one of the characters
• It's easy to load and fire the projectile – simply push to load, then apply a small amount of downward pressure to the tail end of the projectile.
• The projectile has enough force to fly, but not enough to hurt anything. I put my hand right in front of it and shot it, and it surprised me, but didn't hurt.
• There's a knob built into the back of the cannon that changes its up/down angle when turned
Cons
• The cannon could have been a bit more in the style of Star Wars
• The projectile doesn't come from the main part of the cannon, but from a small mount on one side of it
Overall, my family really likes this set and it is a great addition to our collection. It's full of action and makes a great play set.

Action packed play set with great characters

We own tons of Lego stuff from star wars to hero factor to the Lego city figures and when my kids saw this they wanted it too. (They made good grades on their report cards so this was a gift for that) after the delivery guy dropped it off it took my 12 year old took about an hour to put it all together. Four hundred and something Little prices... It would take me forever to do what they do in such a small amount of time. My boys love that so many of the pieces move and it rolls, the cannon angles up and down with the gear on the back. You can make it taller or shorter... All the things boys love to do with the stuff they make. Soon it will be another master piece on the shelf to go with the rest.

Another win!

This is another Lego bricks set related to the Star Wars legend, specifically the Clone Wars. The set looks quite daunting upon unboxing and finding three large bags of Lego pieces. However, it only took about 90 minutes to assemble. The completed set is large, taking up a 12 inch square. It has some Technic pieces which are more difficult to assemble than standard Lego. The cannon doesn't elevate as much as I would have liked. It has limited play value since it lacks “swooshability" (it doesn't fly like a plane or roll like a vehicle). The coolest element was the Lego build droideka (the little insect like robot).

Although intended for children age 8-14, younger kids are likely to enjoy playing with the completed set, along with the other Lego Star Wars sets. However, be vigilant against the child putting the small parts in their mouth.

A good complement to other Lego Star Wars sets

My 13-year-old son and my 30-something-year-old husband built this together as they both enjoy Legos and Star Wars. This is not their first kit to build together but they do not usually build it together. It is a father son bonding experience they share when they do build it together so there is a unique (yet shared) view from them about the set.

What they liked about this set:
It was Easy to build
The instructions were thorough and easy to follow
It is a quiet activity for down time and a discussion starter for older children, you know how they hate to talk about things in life, those awkward silences
It is a bonding opportunity to share similar interests when so little is similar anymore, transcends the age gap
Nostalgia (husband)
It is an extended opportunity to play when you are done building.
There are cool minifigs included (can anyone get enough of these?)
It comes organized into 3 pouches for easier building

Dislikes:
Some pieces were very small, section three was harder to build than the first two because it was mostly smaller pieces. It was hard to tell to tell what color some of them were because they were so small.

Overall, they both highly recommended it and both enjoyed building it.

Good Value, Great Build

This set has a lot of pieces, it was a tough one for my little guys to put together by themselves, definitely one that I had to step in and pretty much put together for them, I don't mind much but it kind of takes away some of the fun for them, it is nicer when they can do it themselves, instead of just watching.
The set itself I would say is just OK, I believe its themed from the Clone Wars which makes it pretty cool but for the amount of pieces that you get I would have hoped for a little more in terms of environment or something to go with it. The Cannon itself is pretty cool, its meant to be played with for sure, it has a lot of moving parts, which is why it's so hard to put together, the legs fold up and it has hidden wheels so that you can move it around, you can raise up the gun and shoot the missiles out by flicking them with your finger.
The Mini figures you get are probably the coolest thing out of the whole set, definitely my boys favorite, they could not wait to get the packages open to put those guys together. They had so much fun playing with those that they did not realize it took me a long while to put together the cannon.
From my experience Lego Star Wars sets are always a bit tough to build, and although this took some time to put together I would still recommend it because it is at least still Star Wars, and that alone makes it cool!

Not an easy build, but at least it's Star Wars!
