Rated 1 out of 5★ by HanSolo3368 Lame Chima Set Laval is super skinny and he falls over a lot. The chi on his chest isn't centered and the shield is a round circle with no decoration. His face looks really scary and the sword is a stick with points. BAD SET! 07/13/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Reika CHI Laval The new line of CHI figures that LEGO has produced is definitely a step up from Hero Factory. I can't help but notice a higher quality to CHI Laval that I've never seen before from LEGO.Firstly, the head piece (as well as the head pieces for all the CHI figures) is detailed, lifelike, and not hollow like some of the other figures produced by LEGO. The little details on Laval's teeth hair and beard are awesome beyond compare.Secondly, COVER ON THE BACK. This is something that I, and I'm assuming all LEGO builders have desired for years now. I've always hated building a Bionicle/Hero Factory model only to find out that it's bare and stupid looking in the back. CHI Laval doesn't suffer from this defect, which makes it all the better. Now, lets talk about the claws. They're cool looking, sturdy, and their ability to "hold" Laval's blade is a nice touch. However, there is a slight design flaw in these extremities: they don't rotate. This doesn't ruin the set, but it does limit the pose-ability of the set.The blade and shield are adequate and aren't really any different from the Hero Factory line of weapons, though I appreciate the fact that the shield can be removed and stored on Laval's back. The color scheme on Laval is definitely not the best of the six CHI figures, though it's not bad. In fact it's pretty good.Overall, these are the pros and cons:Pros-High quality head piece-Armored from all angles-Cool looking claws that can "grab" weapons-Adequate weapons-Adequate color schemeCons-Lack of pose-ability in the non-rotating clawsI highly recommend this set, as well as the other five CHI sets (see my corresponding reviews). It may be fairly pricey, but then again what LEGO sets aren't pricey? 06/16/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by PEXANDCHIPS It looked better on the box... I bought this set with great anticipation, but was disappointed. That said, it is still a good set. The sword was great. It was very sturdy and looked great. The shield was also good, but it was hard to transfer from hand to back as when you removed it from the back the backplate came off as well. The main problem with this set is the hands. While they look great on the bag, up close they look a little weird, and they have no posability whatsoever, limiting arm mobility. The head was very posable though, and a lot bigger than I expected, which was a bonus. Apart from the claws, which look good in certain poses, the figure looked great and had a lot of cool pieces.OverallProsGreat SwordLarge awesome headLots of awesome posesGreat looking shieldConsBack piece is very badly attachedUn-posable arms and handsOverall, this was actually a great set. It looked really fierce and awesome. You should definitely get this set if you are a collector, but if you actually play with them you should think about it. 10/06/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by ReHoOd Good, but has its draw backs First off The head on this thing is very detailed and sturdy but would've liked the jaw to open because I think it would have been pretty cool. The chi chest plate love how that looks very cool looking. The feet and legs move very well with no problems. The arms are the only draw back, if the hands are on the bottom forearm joint you can move the arms no problem but it can't hold the sword and if its on the mid-joint the hand and fur pieces get in each others way and if you flip the fur pieces and move the shoulder joint it ends up hitting the head. Lastly the love the Sword looks good and the size is good; then there's the Shield didn't know it came with a shield but the size is good and like that it pins in both the arm and back. Over all pretty good 04/26/2014
