I am a big fan of the Architecture series and currently own the White House and Fallingwater along with the Robie house. I am in college and took advantage of a day off by completing this. It took me about 6 hours with a couple breaks. I'll start by saying this is way more complex than my previous builds. The biggest challenge I had was getting a little too comfortable in between steps and getting ahead of my self; only to realize I made a few mistakes. My best advice is to just be careful and double check after you complete a page. As far as the building experience, so far this one tops them all. Not only just plain fun to build, but highly engaging. As the structure starts to rise, you really start to see the complexity and grandeur of the structure, and really appreciate how much effort went into the design. The price is a little steep, but if you have the money and a few days off, this is well worth the purchase. Not to mention it looks really amazing on display. Very satisfied with the purchase. Can't wait for more!

First the bad stuff. This is described as 16+ on the box but I think it's far easier than the death star which is 14+ and once you suss out the repeating patterns it's mostly a piece of cake. I assume it's given this age because most kids would find it a bit boring. It's also not particularly good value - although their are over 2000 pieces, most of them are small flat one and two plates. There was one piece missing which I managed to get round with a little redesign. The good stuff. It's a lovely looking house when finished and the red brickwork looks realistic. I found the repetitiveness quite relaxing although I'm sure it wouldn't suit everyone. Overall, a little disappointing. If you want a challenge, look elsewhere - the technic crane is quite a toughy and much much better value!

The Robie House, an american icon of architecture with such a rich history. A great treasure from Frank Lloyd Wright to put in Lego form. With 2276 pieces, it's the biggest set of the architecture series. And let me tell you, it's a pleasure to build. Some folks might say "it has alot of pieces, but there is over 750 2x1 dark red bricks...". Although true, when you reach the bottom of your bag or container that holds your 2x1 dark red bricks, you just can't help and feel sad... Your build is coming slowly to an end... Yes, it's that much of a pleasure to build this masterpiece... And the architecture series is not only for adults. Yes, we love the series. But my 7 year old son also love the series... That's all he asked Santa Clause this year... Architecture sets.

This is by a mile the most expensive lego set I have ever bought. It is a bit playable in the sense that you can take the second floor off and the roofs, and for lego standards it is poor value for money. Why did I give value for money 4/5? Because it is not just about the size etc, it is also about the history, the booklet, the piece of FLW and how you can treasure it forever. It is much better long-term than say, Tower Bridge. The only trouble is that the building process is quite repetetive and the instructions are unclear. It isn't actually a challenging build, just an above average one, but I can't choose that on the selections. Overall though it is a truly brilliant set that you would be mad not to buy. I have fallen in love with it ever since undoing the box.

This model is not for the inexperienced, it has over 2276 pieces and 771 or so of them are 2 bit flat pieces, i hope that sinks in....thats almost as may pieces as there are in the whole falling water set. The instruction book, yes book., sits around 190 or so pages and to build is 141 steps. On to the lego. It is worth every dollar and every rage moment you may have. If youve put together fallingwater, youll be happy to see that the jigsaw like put together is still around. I find this to be a godsend for travelling and the such. Ill concllude with this: if you are sick for a few days or want a challenge, go to your lego store or place where you can buy this, and do so. the $200 price tag (at the day of release) may seem steep, but it is worth it.

To start off, This is a beautiful model. I enjoyed building it. Actually it took me quite a bit, (mostly because my friend stopped by and we played some video games for a while,....and I was watching TV the entire time) but really I would have to say my build time was maybe 3 or so hours. The repetitiveness of building 6 or so pillars of the same part can be a bit boring but the final product is outstanding. (This set is great if you really need 771 dark red 1x2 plates.) Also, unlike most Lego sets, this one can be stored in its box while still assembled. You just have to figure out how to fit the sections into the box. This was a very enjoyable model to build and I would have to say, If you like architecture, I would highly recommend this set.

Huge, gorgeous - but an irritating manual

As a life-long admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright's 'prairie' houses and having thoroughly enjoyed the Fallingwater build, I was greatly looking forward to putting this one together. Unfortunately I came a cropper with the instruction book. Surprisingly there was nothing to show on each page which new pieces had been added. As the majority of this model is constructed in a gorgeous deep dark red, my poor old aging eyes found it quite a struggle peering at the red-on-black drawings for what seemed like days on end, playing 'spot the difference'. Such a shame, since the finished model itself is huge and beautiful, and an inspiring example of FLW's thrilling work. More large-scale FLW buildings, please - but with a clearer manual!

I got this as a gift. I searched several places and this site had the best price. Legos are expensive in general so comparatively it isn't terrible. The finished product looks awesome. The details are incredible.

The title says it all. The other Architecture sets that are good are the Farnsworth house and Villa Savoy. These should be the standard of the Architecture series. I also wish they would come out with a new Fallingwater. The existing Fallingwater set is way too small to be seriously detailed. I saw a Fallingwater at a LEGO show that was exquisite! Of course it would probably be $2000, but I would buy one of these and be happy rather than build many other sets that are mediocre. I believe there are a lot of people who would buy Architecture sets for well over $300. I certainly would. PLEASE LEGO, make larger Architecture sets! Thanks!

This is my 16th Lego Architecture model i now own. I have been wanting this 'Flagship' model for a while and finally forked out a lot of cash for it. Let me say, that this model is worth every single penny! Quite a sizable box and if I am absolutely critical, the weight of all the Lego parts (2276 pieces in all) is too heavy for the thickness of the box material splitting it at some of the creases. This aside, the model is simply incredible. Much bigger than I thought and the exquisite detail shows absolute spot on likeness to the real house in Chicago. I love the detail of the brickwork around the house and the way it finally slots together (very much like the Fallingwater model). The Lego designer, Adam Reed-Tucker has created an absolute masterpiece here. On/off this took around 14 hours to build and requires a lot of concentration in getting the build perfect. Very hard on my aging fingers but the end result is perfect in every way. As I type this review, I cannot help but keep staring at this model and conclude that this is my absolute favorite design from the world renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. The booklet that comes with the model contains the usual stunning quality along with all the facts about the building and the 141 build stages (that doesn't even include all the sub-stages). Outstanding, I cannot recommend this highly enough, love it!
