I have used Kirk's Coco Castile for almost 20 years and never found it to be drying. A soap that cleans well will remove the oils from your skin. This is what causes dry skin. Kirk's soap contains free coconut oil that is left behind to counteract the oil removal.

My wife has dry skin and uses Kirk's every day without trouble.

I have had no issues with Castile soap being drying. I do have a problem with many soaps drying me out, and this doesn't seem to. Been using it for years.

I enjoy the product. Never feels drying to me. My skin is soft, so I am pleased with this product. I suggest you give it a try, and then you will be able to see for yourself.

No,it is not drying.It is in fact the opposite,it is very moisturising.

Did you try Kirk's Castel soap that Wal-Mart sells? It works for me with inching but will dry out.

Excellent for dry skin. Will not cause dryness.

No drying problems at all and I lather up much more than necessary.

I only tried it 2 days. but being much higher PH than your skin, I think it would dry it.

I too have dry itchy skin, especially in the winter. This soap does not dry me out but remember, it is still soap. May I recommend Equate Every Day Moisture Body Wash? I used this for years, especially in winter, and have recommended it to many with your problem. (I still use the Kirk's Castile soap to wash my lady-parts as it does not irritate.) I have also noticed that showering is more drying for me than tub baths. I shower when I need to wash my hair but use the tub otherwise. I think that you will love the Equate product!

all members of our family use Kirks hand bar soap with no resultant dryness of skin. others by our recommendation, also have tried this soap for the same reason that you have and continue to use it. try and decided.

Hello,  I have a suggestion regarding the Ingredient list, as depending on which type of Kirks Coco Soap you purchase,  I have noticed a difference in the ingredients.  I now LOOK at the ingredients list to make sure it ONLY reads this:
***Ingredients:  Coconut Soap, Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Coconut Oil, Natural Fragrance. ***
Please give this a try for at least 30 days to see if it helps.   (Perhaps one of the added ingredients in other bar could be the culprit.)

Kirks also makes an Aloe soap which may help.

Kirk&#39;s Castille soap doesn&#39;t have any of those ingredients listed above. It&#39;s fragrance free and does not include any of the drying ailments that you have listed . You must try it!

this isn&#39;t the fragrance free version, if you want to find the fragrance free one they have it on amazon. it comes in a bluish green wrapper.

I have used both Kirk's and Dr. Bronner's and both are of very good quality. Please notice the plain white wrapping on Kirk's Castile bar soap. I buy Kirk's bar soaps at Walmart or Publix for $3.38 plus tax for a 3 pack. It sells on a bottom shelf near all the regular bar soaps. It is Like a hidden secret. Yet, I am very happy with that product and price. Dr. Bronner's has expensive packaging, expensive advertising, and they pay a premium price to have their product displayed in the healthy isles among other like products. All those extras are creating an inflated price for the customers to pay. So, Bronner's has a great product, but $9-$15 for a bottle of soap is too much. Consumer's are not paying for a better product, but you are paying for all that marketing. Kirk's bar soap can be melted down into 4 cups of hot water to make liquid soap (add a spoon of glycerin). I use this liquid soap as shampoo, body wash, liquid hand soap in my refillable pumps, Dog shampoo, and tub and floor cleaner. I have added my own essential oils to mimic the nice scents that Dr. Bronner's magic soaps might have. We use Kirk's bar soap for so many things that the price does make all the difference.

Hi. I have never used Dr. Bronners but I will from now on. I don't know what you plan on using the soap for, but kirk's will not work for shampoo and has a bad smell. The smell can be fixed with essential oil, but it will not firm up after you melt it.

Dr. Bronner's is very slightly more gentle to the skin, comparing bar to bar. This would only matter if you have very dry skin, coconut based soap can sometimes dry you out a little. It's fine for normal and oily skin. However, this makes a better soap if you are using it for cleaning things besides skin. I use Dr. Bronner's liquid castile as a bath soap for my very delicate dry skin because even THEIR bars dry me out, and I use Kirk's bar soap to make laundry soap. I also use Kirk's as a stain stick for grease on fabric, a hand soap for dirty jobs, and to make soap spray for veggie garden pests. If I had oily skin, Kirk's would be my go to bath soap for sure.

I have tried Dr. Bronner's and for me, I think they leave a residue that I just don't like. Reading the cheeky informational "labels" on their bottles while hanging out in the shower is good clean fun if you have extra time, but otherwise I'm recommending Kirk's. You can find entertaining copywriting elsewhere.

Bonners is a harder soap than the Kirks. Also the bar is larger. Depending on where you get it, Bonners is always more expensive.

Dr. Bronner's bar soap is great, but it cost three times as much. My personal preference is Kirk's for bar soap regardless of prices. Try 'em both out. As far as Dr. Bronner's liquid Castile soap line, well that is really a more generic product and I mean that in a good way. You can really use the Drs' liquid soap for anything and Kirk's doesn't have an equal product that is just plain liquid soap. Kirk's has a Castile based liquid hand soap, body soap and shampoo that are more specific use products.

The traditional use of the term Castile soap meant that it was soap made of olive oil from that Castile region of Spain. Today it is used to mean any vegetable based soap. Most regular brand named store bought bar soap use animal fat left over from the rendering process (pigs, cows, et al) Kirk's uses coconut oil as the basis to make their soap and Bronner's list several different ones like coconut, olive, hemp with or without essential oils for scents. Bronner's has a great deal of information on their website that lists all the different products and clearly state what ingredient is in what product. Kirk's has a much smaller product line. I use (and recommend) both Kirk's and Bronner's products for different things, but for bar soap in the shower it's Kirk's for me.

Good question! I use both with comparable success. Dr Bonner's offers much more scent options but higher price. Both are excellent products. Kirk's is old school & I contacted the company to see how they felt they compared to Dr Bonner's - their response was "who?" - seriously???

Both contain coconut oil. You can check the ingredients in a number of locations.
Tried them both and prefer Kirk's.
