Killzone 2 (PS3) 4.5 5 48 53
Worth Every Penny I was apprehensive about buying a $60 game, but this was, by far, the best purchase I've made for my PS3. Modern Warfare? Pshhh, last gen run and gun. This game forces you to do more than just crouch and fire; you need to plan your routes, find cover, use grenades (yeah, they're REALLY helpful in this game), and chose your shots. The graphics will blow you away, the atmosphere will floor you, and the fluidity of the animation makes this a realistic and engrossing shooter. Whoever rated this under a 5 hasn't played more than a few minutes of it. Honestly, I was mildly disappointed until about 20 minutes into the game when the action picked up and I started hitting those "Wow" moments. No PS3 is complete without this game. Go buy it, now. 08/06/2009
Killzone 2 This game will blow you away the graphics are great it has the most realistic weapon action and the setting is basically all interactible. The blood is amazing looking everytime you kill an enemy. If you have a Playstation 3 and do not purchase this game you have wasted the meaning of owning a Playstation 3. 02/10/2009
08/17/09 Read this review, it's all you'll need I am an advid gamer, and i take pride in my reviews. So if you just want some opinion saying "my son loves this game" you should scroll down i'm sure there's one there.I have been waiting for this game ever since i saw the killzone 2 "non" rendered video. I was quite dissapointed when i found out it was indeed rendered. It pointed out the games flaws a little more to me. One quick example would be the smoke in the opening scene when you shot down, really lacking in the final product. (and now you know i'm someone who looks for quality in my games)Multi-player was a very unique expierence, but before i say anything about it let me say this; compete with halo and gears? no, no, no. I'm not a fanboy i assure you, i own all three next gen systems (reluctantly yes the wii is one of those three, thank god for super smash bros brawl) I'm an advid halo CE player, or at least i used to be, halo 2, and 3 are too noobified for my taste although i did play them extensively. (auto aim, lock on melee, more bounce to the grenades- just to name a few examples.) but even on that note i assure you this game has taken no players away from those games. Here's the main reason - MATCHMAKING!!!!!!!!! THE KILLZONE TWO SETUP IS SUB PAR AT BEST, ITS 2009 STOP USING A SYSTEM COMPUTER GAMES USED WITH WINDOWS 95 PLEEAAASSSE, NOT EVEN AN INVITE SYSTEM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THAT.However, it shares a simliar fate with Gears odf war one <- thats one- the heart of the gameplay is golden but its like hogtying a bull to get there with everyone and everything ur looking for. The gameplay does feel pretty epic when everyone is playing with purpose as apposed to "kill for xp"Overall it seems like a very great concept in leveling, but let me assure you that after a week it gets dull, very quickly. Sure there's alot there with the ribbons and all, but its not worth it when your already bored. Headset community is lacking, and and when you get the lucky room full of em, nobody has anything about the game going on in their headset. Now for the shooting, there's is definately a problem with the way the hitboxes were designed, sometimes this is a headshot but sometimes that is a headshot. I'll be on a rooftop shooting bullets dead on and the indicator will say im making contact but wont recognize it to be a headshot, not my skill either believe me, (number 1 for the month of october 2008 gears of war 1 execution leaderboards, placed 45 in a million man tourney in gears 2) i know how to shoot a gun effectively and apparently this game just does not. it just really takes away from some of the epic moments you should of had, "miracle moments" as i call them. When you're buddies dissarming a bomb and five guys walk in, you spray each of them in the face with solid lead, have the game tell you that you made contact, kill noone, then get shot in the foot and have it count as a headshot. And its not lag, its the games design i've looked into it. This is after the updates by the way. But there are times when it will kill one or two of them, and those times make it feel worth it.The "ka-plink" sound that indicates when you've killed someone may very well be the most satisfying sound to ever hear though. I love it.I know this review may seem like I dislike this game and at this point its that i'm done with it. The reason it got the rating it did, is because the experience i've taken from this game is worth the money alone. Great in the begining but the windows 95 matchmaking and the inconsistent weaponry wont keep u attatch for long. the hours you do log in however, you wont ever forget. Hope this was helpful, i will be reviewing many other games with this amount of detail so pls check my others if this has helped you. And if not maybe my others will, (my review of batman arkhum asylum is coming up soon, that will be one to read)I havnt discussed one player mode, because i dont feel like you should buy this game for its campaign, if you did my reviews arent you're flavor anyway. (Not because i dont review single player games, but because this game was majorily bought for its online, so if you want that kind of a review you dont need much when its a shooter like this one) 08/18/2009
A Bargain at $59.99 Amazing Graphics, Perfect Gameplay, Interesting Story, Great Multiplayer, Campaign is extremely fun. And as of 6-4-2009 they patched the controls so that they are not as sluggish. Great game all around. 06/08/2009
